Lead Corrosion Engineer

Purpose / Role

Lead Corrosion Engineer will be responsible for implementing the internal and external corrosion control program on detailed engineering phase of the project. Will also manage corrosion discipline specialists and actively work with field personnel, engineers, regulatory agencies and other business units to provide technical excellence in both theory and practice of multiple areas of internal and external corrosion analysis and corrosion control techniques.

Responsibilities and duties:

• Manages and provides technical expertise and problem solving support for specialists in all areas of corrosion mitigation, troubleshooting and design of corrosion mitigation systems and monitoring devices;
• Prepare engineering designs and reports and direct preparation of field drawings;
• Assist in cost estimation and detailed proposal development
• Plan and schedule activities for efficient utilization of resources
• Coordinate engineering aspects of installation process
• Manage existing procedures and development of new Standards, Processes and Procedures;
• Manage, provide technical support and coordinate corrosion mitigation for gathering (gas and liquids), transmission and storage field assets (pipelines, vessels, storage well casings and process facilities) to include chemical inhibitor/biocide/scavenging (O2 and H2S) treatment, cathodic protection, down-hole well logging (cathodic protection CPP) and above grade coating applications;
• Manage and provides technical support during regulatory audits;
• Review and evaluate product quality data and provide technical support for internal corrosion mitigation;
• Provide direction, technical oversight and performance manage the resources and activities of 3rd party consultancy services and contractors in the delivery and support of corrosion management activities;
• Provides technical support and consultation in corrosion mitigation on detailed engineering phase of the project and design of new projects;
• Reviews periodic corrosion reports submitted by Field Operations and develops follow-up improvement actions to address exceptions;
• Review the following reports/data and provide corrosion related evaluation and action item follow-up recommendations: In-Line Inspection, Hydrostatic Test, Guided Wave Ultrasonic Technology, flow modeling, pipeline elevation profiles, failure analysis, direct examination (NDE), water chemistry data, bacteria testing results, close Interval over-the-ground electrical surveys, soil resistivity, soil type and soil chemistry;
• Issue and track progress of work orders for follow-up corrosion mitigation improvements and repairs for execution by Field Operations;
• Assist Field Operations with budget estimate preparation to address corrosion mitigation improvements;

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field, and a NACE Corrosion Specialist certification, or a NACE Cathodic Protection Specialist certification, or a NACE Internal Corrosion Specialist certification;
• Must have 15+ years extensive experience in corrosion control activities, monitoring and pipeline integrity and risk assessment processes;
• Must have a strong knowledge of international codes and standards relating to pipeline corrosion;
• Must have specific knowledge of codes/standards applicable to inspection and pipeline processes with experience in chemical inhibitors/biocides, monitoring, inspection, and material selection;
• Prior experience working with an Operator in the implementation of a Corrosion Management Program;
• Demonstrated Management and Leadership skills with an emphasis on mentoring and team building;
• Must demonstrate attention to detail and strong organizational/analytical skills;
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English;

Job type: full-time

Working hours: Monday-Friday, 08:30 am – 17:30pm, 5 working days a week.
