Lead Mechanical Design Engineer
Purpose:
Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible to deliver mechanical engineering and design functions for a projects during detailed design engineering phase to ensure designs are in accordance with project / study requirements and company objectives and are produced in a timely and cost effective manner;
Responsibilities:
• Produce designs in accordance with project, discipline, statutory regulations, good practice and company procedural requirements. Prepare technical specifications, calculations, reports, design criteria and other documents as required by the project / study;
• Develop and deliver mechanical related scope for studies and projects from Feasibility and Concept, Detailed Design, Procurement, Installation, Commissioning and Operational Engineering support;
• Provide technical direction and supervision of personnel and resources in the preparation of all mechanical related deliverables including calculations, stress analysis, data sheets, material selection, layouts and arrangements, hook-up drawings, installation details, equipment specifications;
• Ensure design is completed within design man-hour and procurement budgets;
• Ensure designs produced are optimal in terms of maintainability, serviceability, equipment operating cost and safe operation;
• Provide technical design guidance to Project staff on various aspects of design; Review equipment and installation contract tenders and produce technical adjudications / recommendations;
• Ensure that information flow to drafting and other disciplines serves to maximize output (clear, concise, correct and practical);
• Oversee design scope changes including estimate, control and review of design scope changes;
• Review and comment on design documents and drawings from own discipline from own and other disciplines;
• Compare procurement costs against budget and provide feedback to estimating;
• ensure that design is in accordance with agreed requirements. Input into progress reports, including listing achievements and highlighting issues as required;
Qualifications:
• Bachelor or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering;
• Minimum of 10 to 15 years mechanical engineering experience in Oil & Gas Industry;
• Experience in feasibility, concept selection, FEED and detailed design, stress analysis;
• A thorough knowledge of the codes and standards applicable to the design and engineering of instrumentation for oil and gas processes;
• Excellent spoken and written English language skills; able to communicate clearly and precisely with team members;
• Good knowledge of AutoCAD;
• Strong understanding of design deliverables required for Detailed Design;
Job type: full-time
• Working hours: Monday-Friday, 08:30 am – 17:30pm, 5 working days a week.
