We are currently looking for experienced professionals for the following role:

Lead Mechanical / Piping Engineer

Purpose:

The Lead Mechanical / Piping Engineer shall have the ability to lead; mechanical engineers, piping engineers/designers and pipe stress engineers whilst designing Oil and Gas process plant and ensuring the design is in accordance with ASME codes of practice and BP engineer specifications.  
 
Key Accountabilities:

• Experienced in managing a team of Engineers and Designers.
• Experience in working with large multinational oil and gas companies
• Coordination and implementation of engineering activities.
• Responsible for safe working practices both personally and for the designers in the team, using the WorleyParsons OneWay framework.
• Responsible for personal safety and safe working practices.  Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
• Develop positive client and project relationships.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work autonomously.
• Experience in coaching and mentoring graduates and inexperienced engineers and designers.
• Provide input to proposals (man-hour estimates and execution strategies) and assistance with business development and client relationship management including liaison with client discipline representatives to establish technical direction where not provided by codes and standards.
• Manage Value Improvement Processes including Design to Capacity, Value Engineering and Risk Workshops. Perform process optimisation studies and technology selection in pre-FEED including facilitating Value Engineering workshops.
• Develop and update Engineering Standards as well as Technical specifications.
• Capable of performing process selection, concept and FEED through to Detailed Design and EPC (including commissioning and initial start-up procedures and operating manuals) for major greenfield developments and associated brownfield integrations, upgrades and troubleshooting/debottlenecking.
Experienced in managing a team of Engineers and Designers.

Essential Skills / Competencies Required:

• Substantial experience in the Oil & Gas industry and/or Petrochemical Industry.
• Proven leadership experience and has the ability to manage design teams without supervision.
• Experience in piping stress analysis using CAESAR II and pipe support selection and calculations.
• Experience with; API 610, API 661, API 617, WRC 107/297 CAESAR II nozzle local load calculations.
• Experience with static finite element analysis (FEA) software for designs not covered by code rules.
• Experienced with AIV and FIV calculations and assessments.
• Has experience with valve design codes; API 6D, API 594, API 598, API 600, API 607, API 608, API 609.
• Has design and fabrication experience with ASME VIII Div.1 and Div. 2 pressure vessel, column and heat exchanger and has used PV Elite and Nozzle pro software. Experience in checking fabrication drawings.
• Practical experience with API 579 fitness for purpose calculation of static equipment and piping.
• Design fabrication and construction experience with API 650, API 653 fixed and floating roof large storage tanks including limit state analysis of roof structures. Experience in checking fabrication drawings.
• Experience with ASME B31.3 above ground piping and ASM B31.8, gas transmission pipeline design.
• Has experience with specifying, sizing and the procurement and installation of the following gas compressors; API 617 Centrifugal, API 618 Reciprocating, and API 619 Screw compressors.
• Experience with sizing, specify the following gas compressor mechanical drives and ancillaries; API 616 Gas turbines, HV and LV motors, API 613 speed reducing gearboxes and API 614 dry gas seal systems.
• Has experience with sizing, specify, procurement and installation of API 610 liquid pumps and the associated API 682 mechanical seals systems.
• Experienced in writing scopes of work to allow design packages to be tendered for construction.
• Experience in writing material requisitions for mechanical equipment, piping and valves.
• Has experience in carrying out technical bid analysis of mechanical equipment, piping and valves with further vendor clarifications reports.
• Experience in conceptual and detail design layout of process plant and pipe racks.
• Ability to work in a team environment and coordinate mechanical and piping design activities.
• Understanding of asset management principles and machinery condition monitoring systems
• Have lead multicultural work share design teams.
• Has experience in carrying out conceptual design and multi criteria analysis of competing mechanical packages and rotating equipment.
• Field piping experience in live refinery and or gas plants including, construction, testing, cleaning and pre commissioning and punch checking compliance. Understanding of construction techniques and the implications with plant design.
• Has working knowledge of welding processes, weld metallurgy, welding procedures, weld inspection techniques, and has utilised API 582 guidelines.
• Experience in discipline specific databases and efficient use of word processing and spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Office Word and Excel and as well-developed report writing skills.
• Experience as the responsible engineer checking and approving construction piping isomeric drawings.
• Computer skills in relevant packages including databases, spreadsheets and word processing packages.
• Well developed report writing and public speaking skills
• Able to make difficult decisions and lead and manage others in changing business conditions.
• Excellent people management skills such as leadership, team, interpersonal, coaching, mentoring and supervisory skills.  Must be able to build, motivate, develop and manage an effective team.
• Excellent management skills including the ability to plan, set goals; and manage time, priorities, resources, accountabilities, schedules and cost.
• Understands WorleyParsons Vision and purpose, translates it into team goals and objectives, and gains team commitment to achieving those goals and objectives.
• Effectively manages and resolves conflict between individuals and/or groups.
• Negotiates successful outcomes that achieve the required objectives and have the support and acceptance of all parties.
• Extensive technical and practical experience in piping stress analysis, static and rotating equipment design and operation.
• Approximately 15 years, with a minimum of 5 years experience in either a senior engineering position in the hydrocarbons sectors and at least 10 years in an engineering role.
• A recognised degree in the relevant discipline or equivalent.
