Industrial Cleaning Manager

THE KEY ROLE

• The purpose of the job is to manage the deployment of resources within Azerbaijan and designated Projects. To deliver works which meet the terms of the Project, are commercially viable and are in compliance with Cape Azerbaijan/CES systems, policies and procedures.
• Centralised planning of resources will be undertaken by the Industrial Cleaning Project Manager to maximise utilisation. Strong communications and collaboration will be necessary to plan ahead to meet local need.
• Client management, pre order activity and technical problem solving are integral to the role through deploying the broader range of company services to strengthen the ability to deliver competently and professionally.
• This position is based out of the Azerbaijan Baku office Facility and would entail a commitment from anyone outside of the area applying for the position to be able to spend a minimum 10 weeks on & two week off rotation.
• Additionally the working period will at times include weekends and durations of time offshore, both of which are not always pre planned.

R&R

Planning & Organising

• Ensure working knowledge of projects, and ensure clear understanding of commercial parameters of all jobs, projects under jurisdiction.
• Ensure all Supervisors understand the contract specifications and are able to impart to others.
• Ensure close collaboration with Technical and Sales teams to establish common understanding of work specification.
• Identify resource requirements on a planned basis with Senior Project Manager/Operations Manager.
• Adapt schedule of works as and when required to meet client need, agreeing changes as necessary.
• Manage productivity and performance
• Ensure excellent on-going relationships with client, identifying needs and optimizing new opportunities.
• Ensure performance on all works through proper analysis of information, assessment of execution of works and feedback from employees and clients.
• Ensure that utilisation of labour, plant and equipment is optimised, suggesting different methods or improvements to supervisors and teams.
• Monitor activities, equipment and labour on jobs, ensuring that costs remain within specified limits and investigate problem areas.
• Discuss utilization problems directly with Senior Project manager/Operations Manager where not optimised.
• Make unscheduled visits as well as planned visits to sites to assess performance and to facilitate constructive communications with employees.
• Visit Clients & Sites to troubleshoot major problems.
• Ensure that Supervisors are kept up to date with changes in work schedules, allocating responsibilities appropriately.
• Obtain organized and planned feedback from teams and clients, ensuring that work is progressing to expectation.
• Identify works where productivity targets would be suitable and agree terms with Senior Project manager/Operations Manager.
• Where possible, without compromising job safety, the standard of work, or client relationship, exceed productivity targets.
• Where there are variations to works, or unforeseen problems, agree action with Supervisors and ensure clients and teams are fully briefed.
• Assess working methods and decision making of Operations Supervisors, coaching and mentoring to develop and improve.
• Respond positively to problems and cultivate a climate of problem analysis and resolution through proper use of information.
• Check and approve information for accurate and timely invoicing.
• Ensure that all purchases are administered and approved in compliance with procedures.
• Obtain agreement for additional costs outside Project with clients through team member with most effective key relationship.
• Manage client relationships by working collaboratively with technical and sales team members at the appropriate level to ensure positive outcomes.

Information Management

• Ensure that Operations Supervisors are conversant with responsibilities and comply fully with timesheet & work pack paperwork being completed correctly
• Review draft invoices with Commercial Manager, Senior Project manager/Operations Manager. If required, report to General Manager.
• Prior to submitting costs review the Project, with Commercial Manager to review margin expectations.

Managing Employees

• Understand and ensure consistent application of the Cape Azerbaijan/ CES terms and conditions of employment.
• Deal with persistent or serious breaches in performance standards in compliance with the Cape Azerbaijan/ CES Disciplinary Policy, seeking advice from Operations Manager beforehand.
• Ensure regular and effective communication with Operations Supervisors, encouraging good teamwork and a positive working climate.
• Troubleshoot with Operations Supervisors and coach to maintain a healthy employee relations environment.
• Carry out pre-project brief with project supervisor before deployment
• Carry out project close out meeting with project supervisor
• Ensure SORS are being raised
• Review work pack with Senior Project Manager/Operations Manager

Managing Vehicles and Equipment

• Ensure that vehicle and equipment checks are carried out in accordance with policy, reporting defects through proper procedures.
• Review and plan resources required on works, ensuring best possible utilisation
• Submit new requirements to General Manager with justifications.
Health and Safety
• Hold good knowledge and understanding of Group H&S Policy, IOSH certification and COSHH regulations.
• Implement Health and Safety Action Plans, reporting HSE information as required within the region.
• Review method statements, risk assessments on a random basis to ensure they are applicable and appropriate prior to commencement of work.
• Enlist support of technical team where necessary to compile or improve safety documentation.
• Maintain an organised programme of toolbox talks to improve appropriate level of knowledge and communications.
• Report immediately any safety incidents or near misses in accordance with procedures, taking steps to prevent further incidents at the time and implementing recommendations following H&S report.
• Liaise closely with customer where an incident is reported or takes place to maintain and restore confidence and keep informed of progress and action taken.

Business Development

• Channel opportunities with existing customers for work which could be undertaken by Cape Azerbaijan/CES appropriately.
• Keep a watching brief on competitor activity, alerting appropriately any identified opportunities for new work and new customers.
REQUIREMENTS
• Proven experience in establishing and maintaining solid working partnerships (internal & external)
• Specialist Industrial Cleaning Service requirements
• Minimum of 5 years proven experience in a similar role
• Current offshore survival training (BOSIET) & medical (or ability to obtain this qualification.
• Specialist in both planned works/project works TARs and decommissioning projects.
• Specialist preparation with regards to offshore surveys / estimating and tender presentations.
• Excellent prioritisation & planning skills
• Exemplary communicator
• Good working knowledge of H&S legislation and practices
• Good IT skills
