Position Summary:

To manage a marine nodal back deck crew - data acquisition, electronic equipment, testing, repairing and reporting
Positions reporting to this position: Deck hands related to the seismic vessels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Organize and manage all aspects of day to day operation of a marine seismic nodal deck crew, data acquisition, and electronic equipment (testing and repair). Including but not limited to :
- Retrieving and Deployment of nodes in a safe and efficient manner that neither puts undue stress on either the recording equipment or the handling system itself.
- To be solely responsible for the collection of the RAW Data and its delivery to the Merge system.
- Ensuring all nodes being deployed are in good order having being both tested and synched prior.
- To document and communicate with both the QC, Merge and Party Manager of any inconsistencies experienced/noticed when collecting RAW Data.
- To supervise, manage and assist the back deck crew and ensure that all HSE requirements and operational procedures are being followed.
- Maintenance and proper use of Geokinetics assets assigned to the recording department. Establish a program of preventative maintenance, implement and document the program. Daily inventory and equipment tracking.
- Conform to client and Geokinetics technical, operational and quality specifications. Ensure compliance with all contractual specifications.
- Reporting in accordance with client and Geokinetics policy on the required aspects/deliveries of the recording operation.
- Be an active participant in the crew HSE program and active in daily tail gate meetings.
- Responsible for his specific vessel’s personnel assessment and evaluation. Provide recommendations for internal and external training of personnel.
- Keep in contact with all crew departments (Navigation, Gun Mechanics, Fleet Manager, and Offshore PM) for logistical and operational coordination.
- Monitor all radio communications with the field crew. In the event of an emergency, coordinate response and emergency services.
- Monitor the recording assets and location of the same by setting up inventory controls and procedures on the line.
- Required to assist as needed, in any capacity on any department on the crew, at the discretion of the Party Manager/Project Manager
- Adhere to your Duty of Care obligations.
- Plan and conduct all work activities utilizing risk management principles.
- Procedures associated with the role performed must be read and signed off on as an acknowledgement of understanding and an obligation to abide by the content.

Education & Experience:

- College degree in Electronics plus two years of Seismic Land / TZ /OBN experience as an instrument tech or field observer, or High School diploma plus three years of Land / TZ /OBN experience as an instrument tech or field observer.
- Attended Geospace OBX training with certifications on software packages GeoReaper, GeoMerge, GeoUtilities and RFID reader. 
- Ability to pass the Geokinetics competency assessment for OBX operations. 
- Experience with continues Recording and Simultaneous Source acquisition
- Experience in Land, TZ, OBC and OBN projects

Knowledge & Skills Requirements:

- Strong verbal and written communication skills (English)
- Proficient in Data management standards, storage, transfer and Quality Control.
- Familiar with MS based programs & Linux applications
- Efficient Organization skills
- Self-starter and ability to work within a team
- Ability to make day to day decisions in line with operational managements directions and clients requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of the seismic acquisition chain with basic understanding of all departments role in the process.
- Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Good communication (verbal and written).
- Good English both verbal and written.

Key Software and equipment to master :

- Knowledge of OBX 750 / ZLAND / Sercel UNITE nodal system
- software GEOREAPER, GEOMERGE, GEOUTILITIES
- RFID reader.

QHSE Competencies:

- Competencies for the role are referenced in the Integrated QHSE Management System Training Frame Guidelines. For this role, the competencies that are required include Level #.
- Must abide by and enforce all Geokinetics Policies including but not limited to HSE, Drug & Alcohol, Operational Policies, IAGC, OGP, Client, Local & State Governmental Policies.
- Know and implement the policies of GEOKINETICS on quality, production, safety, protection to environment and costs and verify its fulfillment.
- BOSIET(Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training) or STCW95

Physical Demands/Working Conditions & Hazards:

- Satisfactorily complete the medical examination (UKOA or similar)
- Stand, walk and sit
- Use of hands to grasp, handle and lift.
- Seismic work is highly risky. Working environment may be in normal office conditions or open areas exposed to weather. Seismic work is conducted in a variety of environments, including swamps, snow, steep mountains, jungles, and deserts. It employs explosives, boats, helicopters and other vehicles.
- The QHSE manager reviews that each crew and project has the specific hazard register for the work conducted. Use PPE accordingly.
- Outdoor conditions on open sea (weather, sea conditions, high winds)
- Exposure to hazards such as high pressure air, loud noise, fumes, suspended load, pinch points.
