Position Summary:

Supervise the operation and maintenance of a seismic energy source which includes the Air Gun Arrays and the compressors
Positions reporting to this position: Air Gun Mechanic Shift Leader, Air Gun Mechanic, Source Mechanics and helpers    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Supervise work of the shift leaders/gun mechanics.
- Ensure proper training of gun mechanics, including all safety and technical training.
- Assist in the training of gun and compressor operators as necessary to ensure that they are adequately prepared in the safe and efficient operation of the equipment to which they are assigned.
- Assist in implementing and managing preventive maintenance programs.
- Supervise and perform preventive maintenance on air guns, compressors, and hydraulics in accordance with established maintenance practices and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment as necessary.
- Supervise sub-contractors and ensure they operate within our guidelines.
- Assist in creating and implementing procedures for marine source operations.
- Update maintenance records on field equipment and submits reports as required.
- Help direct gun mechanics on adequate inventory of parts to minimize production loss due to equipment breakdown.
- Oversee spare parts and equipment inventories and ensure documentation requirements.
- Oversee equipment modification when necessary.
- Ensure that all the relevant equipment is certified and up to date.
- Perform special and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Know and implement the policies of GEOKINETICS on quality, production, safety, protection to environment and costs and verify its fulfillment

Education & Experience:

- High school graduate or equivalent plus 3 years minimum in the marine seismic industry.
- University degree or technical school certificate(s) covering diesel engines and hydraulics, or related field of study.
- Experience in Land, TZ, OBC and OBN projects

Knowledge & Skills Requirements:

- Competencies for the role are referenced in the Integrated QHSE Management System Training Frame Guidelines. For this role, the competencies that are required include Level B for all staff.
- Leadership and interpersonal ability
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work with high pressure air environment
- Strong technical aptitude
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office
- Good communication (verbal and written).
- Good English both verbal and written.
 
Key Software and equipment to master :

- User Knowledge of Gunlink 2000 and Bigshot source controller systems, Ability to run the software.
- Repair and maintenance ability for compressors (Hurricane 500 and 800 CMF, LMF)
- Repair and maintenance ability for Diesel engines (Caterpillar C-12 C-18 engines)
- Repair and maintenance ability for seismic air guns (SERCEL G & GI guns and BOLT Guns)
- The compressors, air manifolds, and air lines work all under extreme pressure and temperature, and are cooled down with dedicated water cooling systems. All these require very specific mechanical and engineering understanding on how these systems operate to ensure a safe and continuous operation

QHSE Competencies:

- Competencies for the role are referenced in the Integrated QHSE Management System Training Frame Guidelines. For this role, the competencies that are required include Level #.
- Must abide by and enforce all Geokinetics Policies including but not limited to HSE, Drug & Alcohol, Operational Policies, IAGC, OGP, Client, Local & State Governmental Policies.
- Know and implement the policies of GEOKINETICS on quality, production, safety, protection to environment and costs and verify its fulfillment.
- BOSIET(Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training) or STCW95

Physical Demands/Working Conditions & Hazards:

- Satisfactorily complete the medical examination (UKOA or similar)
- Stand, walk and sit
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Use of hands to grasp, handle and lift.
- Seismic work is highly risky. Working environment may be in normal office conditions or open areas exposed to weather. Seismic work is conducted in a variety of environments, including swamps, snow, steep mountains, jungles, and deserts. It employs explosives, boats, helicopters and other vehicles.
- The QHSE manager reviews that each crew and project has the specific hazard register for the work conducted. Use PPE accordingly.
- Outdoor conditions on open sea (weather, sea conditions, high winds)
- Exposure to hazards such as high pressure air, loud noise, fumes, suspended load, pinch points.
