Position Summary:

Define, organize, manage and control work of Geophysics Department, the daily acquisition, processing and quality control of the seismic data. Provide validated seismic data, Final SPS files, and documentation for the crew, data processing center and client.
Direct reporting to this position: Geophysicist I, Senior Geophysicist     

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- When necessary, to be sent at the beginning of a project to prepare the facilities for the QC department (i.e. receive equipment, prepare requisitions, etc.);
- To assist the Party Manager, Operations Manager, and/or Country Manager in establishing the operations parameters, as well as to assist other departments in the implementing of procedures;
- To be able to use all the necessary software for the preparation of the data handled by the department;
- Organize and control all aspects of the day to day operation of the Geophysics Department.
- To conduct training seminars for geophysicists team members regarding MESA®, ProMAX®/Ethos, and any other software being used;
- To organize the supervision of field activities, and taking on the responsibility of defining shot and/or line relocation based on safety distances and exclusion areas;
- To conduct meetings with other departments in order to assist in the planning of their activities to maintain and/or improve production (i.e. survey / navigation department, recording, etc.);
- Must show team leadership by being proactive, by supporting newer geophysicists, by leading by example.
- To define, create and validate the scripts to be used by recording department.
- To define, supervise and execute the validation of the seismic data acquired.
- To Supervise and validate Seismic Data transcription process.
- Be an active participant in the crew HSEQ program and active in daily tail gate meetings.
- Must abide by and enforce all Geokinetics policies including but not limited to HSEQ, Drug & Alcohol, Operational Policies, IAGC, OGP, Client, Local and State Governmental Policies.
- Responsible for all aspects of health, safety and environmental concerns in the particular work area. Demonstrate safe work practices.
- Responsible for Geophysics department personnel assessment. Provide recommendations for internal and external training of personnel. Train personnel on the crew.
- Maintenance and proper use of Geokinetics assets assigned to the Geophysics department;
- Reporting in accordance with client and Geokinetics policy on the required aspects of the acquisition.
- Request Technical, Safety and Quality Training if needed and attend the same as required by management.
- Required to assist as needed in any capacity on any department on the crew, at the discretion of the Party Manager, Project Manager.
- To host meetings to discuss acquisition parameters, and/or any other pertinent geophysical information;
- To provide support to Geophysicists I and Senior Geophysicist in all aspects of data management in the department;
- Must be able to prepare written reports on field tests that will be presented to the client (these reports must be approved by the HOD or Regional Geophysicist);
- Define the procedures or work instructions to be followed during any specific prospect and in case of any missing ones they should be implemented.

Education & Experience:

- University degree in either Geophysics, Geology or Earth Science.
- MESA® training;
- ProMAX® training;
- Ethos® training;
- Gundalf ® training;
- Nucleus® training;
- Work in the industry more than 10 years in similar positions.
- Experience in Land, TZ, OBC and OBN project.
- Experience in Continues Acquisition projects. Geospace / Fairfield Nodes

Knowledge & Skills Requirements:

- Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- UNIX/LINUX
- Proficient in Design of Land, TZ, OBC and OBN Seismic Projects;
- Strong knowledge in seismic data processing
- Full understanding of Geophysics theory behind the seismic data projects.
- Expert in MS Excel & MS Access; macros creation, VB coding

- Must abide by and enforce all Geokinetics Policies including but not limited to HSE, Drug & Alcohol, Operational Policies, IAGC, OGP, Client, Local & State Governmental Policies.
- Know and implement the policies of GEOKINETICS on quality, production, safety, protection to environment and costs and verify its fulfillmen
- BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training) or STCW95

Physical Demands/Working Conditions & Hazards:

- Stand, walk and sit
- Use of hands to grasp, handle and lift.
- Seismic work is highly risky. Working environment may be in normal office conditions or open areas exposed to weather. Seismic work is conducted in a variety of environments, including swamps, snow, steep mountains, jungles, and deserts. It employs explosives, boats, helicopters, and other vehicles. The QHSE manager ensures and reviews that each crew and project has the specific hazard register for the work conducted. Use PPE accordingly.
- Outdoor Conditions on open sea (Weather, sea conditions, high winds)
- Exposure to hazards such as high pressure air, loud noise, fumes, suspended loads, pinch points.
