Position Summary:

Coordinate Technical Department to keep recording equipment and all electronic equipment in good and operative condition throughout the course of the entire project. 
Positions reporting to this position: Cable technicians, Junior Technician, and all persons related to Technical Department     

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Supervise and coordinate work in workshop to ensure that all the electronic equipment in the crew is in good operation.
- Prepare and maintain personnel roster in Technical Department.
- Set up and maintain recording equipment, radios, tools, and all electronic equipment.
- Maintenance and repair of all ground and recording equipment, including cables, geophones/hydrophones, line boxes, radios, source controllers, etc. Ensure that all adequate test and repair equipment is available, working, and being utilized.
- Troubleshoot and correct system breakdowns to reduce crew down-time
- Work with Seismic Observers to verify field instrument tests and make sure equipment is within specified limits.
- Order and follow up on requisitions of spare parts.
- Keep records of repairs and maintenance. Prepare a daily inventory of all equipment repaired and to be repaired and provide daily report of the same to the Observer and the Party Manager, Project Manager.
- Document all equipment tests, including but not limited to: Activity, Distortion, Polarity, Continuity, Leakage, and active characteristic testing.
- Plan for requisitioning of new, expanded, or upgraded recording equipment, firmware, and software. Work with the provider to ensure equipment is received in a timely manner and in good working order.
- Is on call to troubleshoot and correct system breakdowns and get ‘down’ crews working again by the fastest possible means.
- Provide, maintain and distribute documentation and schematics of all equipment, systems and interfaces in each area.
- Oversee spare parts and equipment inventories.
- Ensure that the repair or replacement of needed equipment or spares is done in a timely manner.
- Responsible for all aspects of health, safety and environmental concerns in the particular work area. Demonstrate safe work practices.
- Know and implement the policies of GEOKINETICS on quality, production, safety, protection to environment and costs and verify its fulfillment.

Education & Experience:

- University degree in electrical engineering or electronics or equivalent experience in similar jobs.
- Minimum 5 years, in the seismic industry.
- Experience in Land, TZ, OBC and OBN projects
- Experience with continues Recording and Simultaneous Source acquisition

Knowledge & Skills Requirements:

Key Software and equipment to master :

- Full proficiency with Gunlink 2000 and Bigshot source controller systems (Instruments specialist: installation, configuration, operation and repair), Ability to perform the startup tests for the gunboats (Bubble test, timing test etc.).
- Experience with the latest version BuoyLink 4DX RTK GNSS Tracking System (Installation, configuration, and operation of all instruments and software’s).
- Proficient with operating systems Linux (Redhat & Ubunto), UNIX (AIX, Solaris), Windows all versions and ability to solve complex software issues.
- Ability to setup, maintain data recording systems (Sercel 408, 428, 448, Geospace, FairfieldNodal), recognize problems and perform repairs on instruments and fields equipment’s.
- Good knowledge of the VE464 vibrator electronics, seismic universal encoder/decoder
- Good knowledge of the Gator OBC software operation and ability to resolve related problems in very short time. Holding the Gator OBC Operator certificate.
- Able to install and maintain vessel instruments such as (Furuno Navnet, radars, echo sounders, AIS transponders, MarineTraffic AIS receiver, etc.).
- Ability to install and maintain all communication means (VHF Radios, Repeaters, Antennas, etc.), CCTV systems on vessels, and Information Technology in the crew.
- Completed successfully the “Vibroseis Theory, Parameter Design And Array Theory” traning course

QHSE Competencies:

- Competencies for the role are referenced in the Integrated QHSE Management System Training Frame Guidelines. For this role, the competencies that are required include Level #.
- Must abide by and enforce all Geokinetics Policies including but not limited to HSE, Drug & Alcohol, Operational Policies, IAGC, OGP, Client, Local & State Governmental Policies.
- Know and implement the policies of GEOKINETICS on quality, production, safety, protection to environment and costs and verify its fulfillment.
- BOSIET(Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training) or STCW95

Physical Demands/Working Conditions & Hazards:

- Satisfactorily complete the medical examination (UKOA or similar)
- Stand, walk and sit
- Use of hands to grasp, handle and lift.
- Seismic work is highly risky. Working environment may be in normal office conditions or open areas exposed to weather. Seismic work is conducted in a variety of environments, including swamps, snow, steep mountains, jungles, and deserts. It employs explosives, boats, helicopters and other vehicles.
- The QHSE manager reviews that each crew and project has the specific hazard register for the work conducted. Use PPE accordingly.
- Outdoor conditions on open sea (weather, sea conditions, high winds)
- Exposure to hazards such as high pressure air, loud noise, fumes, suspended load, pinch points.
