Role synopsis

Due to continuing growth in the region, PD&MS Group are looking for an E&I Design Team Leader to join the team based in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Candidates should have previous offshore experience in the oil and gas industry and have a proven background in Electrical & Instrument design engineering. Additionally, experience of drilling facilities and equipment along with offshore survey experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Knowledge of, and compliance with, client, industry and international specifications and standards.  Assurance that personnel under the Lead Designer’s control comply with relevant documents.
• Supervision of discipline personnel under the Lead Designer’s control, and for the quality of work produced by these discipline personnel.
• Assurance of competence of design personnel under the Lead Designer’s control.  Identification of personnel shortfalls and submission of proposal to the Department Head for solutions such as training, coaching or replacement.
• Monitoring progress of work under the Lead Designer’s control and achieving completion within the agreed schedule and budget.  Reporting progress to the Lead Discipline Engineer / Department Head as per PD & MS Energy systems and procedures.
• Identification of design scope of work required to undertake a project/job.  Estimation of deliverables, manpower and time required to execute the scope of work.
• Input to project plans and schedules via the Lead Discipline Engineer.
• Early identification to the Lead Discipline Engineer / Department Head of areas of concern during the course of any project or study with necessary corrective action identified.
• Production of cost effective design solutions that are fit for purpose, safe and add value to both PD&MS Energy and the Client.  Motivation of discipline personnel to do similarly.
• Ensuring operational and maintenance issues are addressed in the design.  Seeking input from operations and maintenance personnel and, if beneficial, carrying out presentations to site personnel of changes to their installation.
• Surveys, both onshore and offshore, to determine information to allow execution of workscopes.
• Forward planning of resources and timely identification of changes to resource requirements to the Lead Discipline Engineer / Department Head.
• Checking of documents created by own discipline, e.g. drawings, bills of materials.
• Identification of increase or reduction in scope of work and advising the Lead Discipline Engineer / Department Head / Project Engineer accordingly.
• Ensuring Discipline Designers follow discipline procedures for document control and use and retention of check prints / IDC comments prints.
• Representation of PD & MS with Clients and Suppliers / Vendors in a professional manner.
• Awareness and understanding of the business drivers within the PD & MS / Client relationship and how these can be influenced by innovative designs and minimum cost solutions 
• Performance of discipline engineering tasks and coordination of other discipline engineering tasks and activities, in accordance with company QA, HS & E Policies
• Ensuring compliance with applicable Industry Codes and Standards, HSE Alerts, Statutory Instruments, Client Specifications and Legislative Requirements and establishing order of precedence on a project-by-project basis.
• Demonstration of safe approach in design and working practises
• Awareness and understanding of the business drivers and values
• Training and Development of Trainee Discipline Designers and assistance to Lead Discipline Engineers for training and development of Graduate Discipline Engineers.
• Annual Review of Supplier / Personnel within own discipline.

Essential qualifications and experience

• HNC with significant experience in related subject
• Reasonable Understanding of all Disciplines
• Drilling facilities and equipment experience
• Offshore survey experience
• Through Understanding of Relevant Oil & Gas Industry Codes and Standards
• Reasonable dexterity in the use of Software packages (AutoCAD /MS Office)
