System Administrator

Reports to IT Manager

o Provide operational server support and management,  support for server related incidents and escalating to Operations Manager when necessary
o Remote support and management of issues through to resolution including replacement/repair of server parts where needed
o Management of spare server parts to ensure adequate levels available at all times.
o Follows established procedures to detect, diagnose, and report all application related problems with servers
o Regular preventative maintenance tasks including physical visits to servers to report any alerts and overall availability and stability of server environment
o Provides technical user and operational support for the server environment.
o Performs routine and emergency systems administration tasks
o Analyzes, recognizes and troubleshoots problems with server hardware and applications software
o Installs new software releases, systems upgrades, installs patches and resolves software related problems
o Assists with server upgrades
o Performs systems backup, storage and recovery as planned
o Design server and storage system security policies
o Enforce server and storage design, security, and deployment standards and procedures
o Integrate with the client’s team and carry out installation, maintenance and operational support activities on the core infrastructure or on cloud-based solutions

Skills and qualifications

o Qualified to Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert level (or higher) encompassing technologies such as Server Infrastructure, Messaging & Desktop Infrastructure
o Hands-on experience in deployment and administration of Windows servers
o Experience in Design, Implementation and Administration of Windows 2008r2 and 2012, PowerShell scripting ability, Active Directory/GPO administration and VMware 5.x.
o Working experience in Microsoft Server technologies including: SQL Server 2008, Exchange 2010, SharePoint 2010, Lync 2013, and System Center 2012. Web technologies, SAN technologies, Backup software and hardware.
o Process improvement experience.
