Rig Administrator

General Description

The Rig Administrator is responsible to operate communication equipment and monitor radio traffic in accordance with the requirements stipulated by the Flag State of the MODU and rules and regulations applicable to the operating area. The Rig Administrator is responsible for maintaining updated call-out and notification lists pertaining to emergency response situations.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor distress and calling frequencies. Check traffic lists and monitor designated private channels;
Arrange radio, fax and telex communication onboard;
Keep up communication with Supply Boat and Standby Boat serving the rig, and log their positions;
Act as EDP network administrator and maintain/repair all hardware and software on the servers and the PCs onboard;
See to that Maersk Drilling’s rules and instructions regarding use of EDP onboard are compiled to assist and train new and existing EDP users onboard, when
necessary;
Perform regular inspections, tests, and required maintenance of all radio and telecommunication equipment on board including emergency radio equipment in the lifeboats, aerials and batteries;
Assist the OIM with other administrative work as instructed.

Qualification requirements

The Rig Administrator shall have the required knowledge and understanding of current laws, regulations, procedures and agreements that govern the operation.
Valid CAA certificate
Preferably 2-3 year experience from a Rig Administrator position and/or 2-4 years offshore experience
Good verbal and written English communication skills
Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate at all levels
Computer literate
Training as per the Training Matrix or as designated by Maersk Drilling
