Safety Officer

General Description

The Safety Officer shall assist the platform management and rig team onshore in ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental work on the unit complies with the established HSSE policy and processes and procedures, and that the work is in compliance with regulatory -, Maersk Drilling - and client requirements (Ref. Bridging Document).
He/she shall be noticeable in the rigs HSE work by spending majority of time in the field coaching/guiding/monitoring /assisting/instructing personnel

Key Responsibilities

It is the duty of the Safety Officer to seek and to enhance the general HSE level in all Departments.
Serve as a good example/coach in connection with the use of personal safety equipment, adherence to current procedures and instructions as well as his/her engagement in the daily preventive HSE work onboard the unit.
Promote Stop job directive.
Coach all personnel onboard the unit in HSE related matters, including sub-contractors -, service company - and operators personnel.
Give advice in connection with safety critical operations.
Assist in establishing yearly HSE plan.
Carry out training, verifications and safety inspections on own initiative and upon request from platform management, onshore rig team or QHSSE manager.
Participate in and conduct accident investigations as requested.

Qualification requirements

The Safety Officer shall have the required knowledge and understanding of current laws, regulations, procedures and agreements that govern the operation. Particular emphasis is attached to the rules and regulations relating to emergency preparedness, working environment and safety.
Preferably 1-2 year experience from a Safety Officer position and/or 2-4 years offshore experience
Proficient with safety management principles
Conversant with quality management principles
Conversant with environmental management principles
Demonstrate profound interest in safety aspects
Good verbal and written English communication skills
Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate at all levels
Computer literate
Safety Training Courses and Medical Certificate as per local requirement
