System Administrator
Summary
Responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, installing, and supporting a company's computer systems. Design, install, maintain and troubleshoot LANs, WANs, Internet and intranet systems, and network segments.
Primary responsibilities
1. Maintain, administer and troubleshoot computer networks and related computing environments, including servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches.
2. Install new / rebuild existing physical and virtual servers and configure hardware, peripherals, software, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements. Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
3. Administer Microsoft Active Directory users and computers, create, change, and delete user/computer accounts per request.
4. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
5. Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware. Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
6. Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
7. Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
8. Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
9. Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
10. Monitor network performance in order to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
11. Manage Microsoft Office 365 applications, users, subscriptions, etc.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
1. Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science.
2. System Administration/System Engineer certification in Microsoft Windows Server.
3. Four to six years system/network administration experience.
4. Working experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2, Microsoft System Center 2012
5. Working experience with Microsoft Office 365 including Exchange Online
6. Working experience with CISCO/HP network equipment
