Job title: Community Development Initiatives Officer
Role synopsis
The purpose of the Social Performance and Sustainable Development Initiative (SDI) is to enhance BP and oil and gas co-venturers long-term business by:
• Mitigating long-term non-technical risk to BP and co-venturers business in the region
• Securing long-term “license to operate” in the region
• Ensuring that citizens and governments of the three countries continue to value BP and co-venturers presence in the region.
Purpose of this specific role is to support SDI Manager in delivering community development agenda in line with the approved by partners SDI Strategy.
Key accountabilities
• Support building and proactive maintaining of relationships with key stakeholders to our business in BP affected Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan(BTC) / South Caucasus Pipeline Expansion(SCPX) and Sangachal Terminal (ST) communities through best in class development interventions;
• Identify, manage and mitigate reputational and non-technical risks through community development initiatives along BTC/SCP pipelines and around the Sangachal Terminal;
• Close collaboration with SCPX Project Team to ensure the aligned approach towards community development and engagement activities;
• Act as Single Point Accountability (SPA) for all SCPX and Shah Deniz 2 (SD2) community development related activities;
• Support development and delivery of the community projects in line with Sustainable Development Initiative (SDI) objectives and ensure activities provide real, long-term and sustainable benefits to local communities and aligned with AGT business objectives;
• Support SDI Manager in delivering proactive stakeholder relations through effective project management, oversight, monitoring and evaluation;
• Regularly review local legislation and government’s development programs in regions, development initiatives by 3rd parties and use information for effective Community Development Projects planning and management;
• Take initiative in raising external and internal awareness about Community Development Initiative (CDI ) programs through intranet, internet, external and internal publications and media;
• Lead projects monitoring activities in regions by regular field visits, monitoring and 3rd party QA/QC, including scope development for consultants, when needed;
• Liaise with Procurement and Supply Chain Management (PSCM), finance/audit and commercial teams to ensure consistency with strategy and award paper submissions to contracts committees;
• Maintain working relationships with Social Team and effectively utilise their support in monitoring for the CDI, thus enhance positive relationship with communities;
• Closely liaise with relevant teams in Georgia, Turkey and wider development community to keep informed of latest development in the community work and adopt expertise and learning accordingly;
Essential Education
• Graduate and/or post graduate degree in Business, Development, Economics, International relations, Management or other related fields;
• At least three years of work experience, preferably within community development, project management, corporate social responsibility in Azerbaijan;
• Project management (particularity in the Monitoring & Evaluation aspects) and analytical skills.
Essential experience and job requirements
• Relevant professional experience in one or more of the following fields: community development, business support services, business development assistance, agriculture.
