Position:  Tax Manager

Reports to:  Financial Controller

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Tax Manager will assist the Assistant Controller in compiling timely and accurate financial management reports, as required by the country’s Tax regulation, the corporate office and the owners. The Tax Manager will assist the Assistant Controller in order to ensure that proper internal controls are in place. Also, the Tax Manager must play a role in the development of the accounting staff especially in terms of training, cross-training, and development in order to meet the hotel’s and the Company’s human resources needs.

• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks.
• Must have thorough knowledge of all jobs in the Accounting areas.
• Must have a commitment to follow all local and corporate policies and procedures.
• Must have a high degree of professional integrity and confidentiality, and work in a safe, prudent and organized manner.
• Assisting the Assistant Controller in order to ensure that all of the accounting colleagues understand and follows the applicable policies and procedures that are outlined in the Company’s accounting policies and procedures manual, and especially those, related to the country’s Tax rules and regulations.
• Monitoring the accounting department’s daily routines to ensure effective, efficient and tax compliant work practices.
• Supervising and assisting with account reconciliations, account analysis, and closing procedures at month end.
• Verifying the accuracy in terms of all applicable tax rules of all of the night audit transactions and monitoring adherence to established procedures in all purchases or sales of the hotel departments. Also, Tax Manager is responsible for the accuracy of all reports, required by the local Tax legislation reporting (Monthly Register of Sales, Purchases, Tax declaration, etc.)
• Supervising the filing and maintenance of all Tax accounting related documents and records in accordance with the document retention regulations in the country and the provision in the Hotel Management Agreement.
• Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all operational tax reporting.
• Working with the Controller to plan, educate, and audit departmental and hotel staff, who are ordering goods or signing tax-related documents. Also, the Tax Manager must oversee the training, cross training, and development of the hotel staff on all issues, related to local taxation (whatever included in their immediate duties).
• Performing related tasks and duties as assigned by the Controller such as assisting with forecasting, reporting, budgeting, internal control, and completing account analysis.

• Prepare all financial statements, accruals and journal entries, and maintain reconciliation’s for all balance sheet accounts, related to taxation, in established corporate formats and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Supervise and ensure all reports and documents are compliant with the IFRS, Uniform System of Account for the Lodging Industry and Hotel Management Agreement requirements.
• Have a thorough knowledge of the contents of all Tax related documents and laws in the country and thoroughly follow up on all changes.
• Assist the Controller and Assistant Controller in preparation of all budgets and forecasts.
• Supervise the day-to-day activities of Accounting staff including assisting them when necessary to stay current.
• Prepare or oversee the preparation of all local, state and other tax filings, returns and other reporting on a timely basis to the extend it’s the operating company’s responsibility.
• Participate in and develop staff training programs in order to minimize colleague turnover activities and results of the Accounting office meeting or any other related issues.
• Conduct self in a professional manner at all times to reflect the high standards of the Hotel and encourage staff to do the same.
• All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proficient in the English and Azerbaijani languages (spoken & written), good knowledge of  Russian and Turkish
• Must be able to handle a multitude of tasks in an intense, ever-changing environment while remaining calm and collective
• Must be flexible in terms of working hours (24-hour operation, 7 days a week)
• Self-motivation and organizational skills and the ability to take initiatives
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• 6 or more years prior experience in public accounting tax experience.
• Significant supervisory experience (2 years plus).
• Strong accounting and analytical skills.
• Strong computer skills: proficiency in Tax software, Excel, Word.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
