Job title: Drilling Fluid & Cementing Superintendent

Key accountabilities 

The primary responsibilities of the Drilling Fluid & Cementing Superintendent are:

? Supervision of fluids and cementing  all operations
? Ensuring wells are designed and planned in compliance with BEOCL standards and the relevant Azerbaijan Republic regulatory regulations
? Ensuring compliance of fluids activities with operational and environmental standards .
? Ensuring the optimization of fluids related engineering and operations in order to facilitate the best possible well operations performance .
? Work closely with Drilling Team and Fluids Engineering Staff in the well design and in preparation of well operations to include drilling, cementing, completion and cuttings re-moved;
? Work with drilling superintendent during drilling operations to ensure the needs of the project are being met with the fluids in use;
? Coordinate with fluid vendors in such areas as well planning, fluids programs, operations, and logistics;
? Provide on-site technical assistance when needed;
? Ensure availability & fitness of all products, equipment and personnel in a timely manner for fluids support of the drilling operations;
? Ensure correct invoicing, cost evaluation and update accordingly invoice database ;
? Manage daily operational drilling fluids, cement, waste management operations in accordance with company standards & local laws;
? Prepare the Well Fluid & Cement program and Well discharge treatment strategy and ensure a close follow up of operations.
? Contribute to improving skills and know-how, capturing lessons learnt.
? Check and approve daily drilling & logistic operations programs, procedures and daily reporting & debriefings;
? Participate to the issuing of State of the Art document, Well Programs, End of well reports, optimization procedures; .

Essential Education 

Personal commitment and proactive approach to HSSE.

Educated to at least first degree level in an engineering or related discipline. Any Drilling Industry related schools will be an asset.

Essential experience and job requirements 

• Minimum of 15 – 20 years Oil industry related experience. Minimum of 15 years’ experience in well Fluid engineer operations experience.
• Solid experience in Wells Function as an Engineer with Wells background
• Proven staff management skills with at least 5 years in a leadership position
• On/Offshore fluid drilling experience
• Comfortable working strategically as well as tactically
• Proven project management skills
• Proven commercial awareness
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Fluent English (written and spoken)
• Demonstrated ability to identify and implement opportunities for improvement
• A self-starter, innovative and able to identify priorities, willing to take up new tasks

• Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritize work
• Strong networking, interpersonal and presentation skills
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Desirable criteria & qualifications 

• Well Cap Well Control Certification
• Experience working with/for Major Oil Companies
• Advanced knowledge and abilities in Excel and other MS Office applications
• Experience in Planning and Project Management

Travel required 

Yes - up to 75%. Travel will be required to the field locations offshore, to monitor and participate in drilling operations, performing third party Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
