What you need to know and have:
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Prior experience or internship in a DevOps or software development role is preferred but not mandatory for a junior position.
- Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems and administration.
- Knowledge of networking protocols, firewall configurations, and security best practices.
- Experience with monitoring and log aggregation tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Splunk.
- Understanding of web servers (e.g., Nginx, Apache) and load balancers.
- Familiarity with database systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.
- Understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Ruby.
- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Experience with version control systems like Git.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude towards learning new technologies.
Certifications:
- Any relevant certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Google Cloud Certified – Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer) would be a plus, although not required for a junior position
