Role synopsis 

BP Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey Region (AGTR) invites the professionals to be a part of BP New Wells Delivery Team (NWD) as Azeri National Wellsite Geologist (WSG) to work in Baku. As the Wellsite Geologist, you will work within the New Well delivery team for both Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) and Shah Deniz and report to the Operations Geologist and spending in average 100 – 140 days per year offshore. The Wellsite Geologist will be expected to bring in Best Practices from his/her background and ensure that the new well delivery activities are kept current with BP standards. As this position is based primarily offshore, effective communication skills will be critical to maintain a strong integration with the New Wells Delivery team in Baku.

Key accountabilities 

As Wellsite Geologist, your main responsibilities will be, but not limited to:

• Actively promote and encourage a safe working environment
• Act as the sole offshore wellsite geologist responsible for delivering the geological aspects of the well objectives after a period of accompanied trips offshore.
• Monitor quality control of mudlogging and Logging While Drilling (LWD)/Wireline output.
• Liason between drilling, LWD/Measurement While Drilling (MWD), Wireline, mudlogging and NWD team in Baku.
• Implement offshore ‘No Drilling Surprises’ assessment and fully understand the Pore Pressure Fracture Gradient (PPFG) profile for the well and potential Wellbore Stability Issues.
• Work with PreVue PPFG (Shah Deniz) when working as the Night Wellsite Geologist
• Complete the ‘end of well’ report and composite log.
• Produce the Daily Geological Report.
• Update the Well Data Book.
• Upload at wellsite subsurface data onto server database
• Work as an assistant to the Operations Geologist when in the office.

Essential Education 

- Minimum BSc degree in Geosciences

Essential experience and job requirements 

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a wellsite geologist offshore / onshore

Other essential skills and knowledge 

• Excellent communication skills with proven success working with multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to work in a challenging environment and deliverability under tight deadlines

Desirable criteria & qualifications

• Preferably with a mudlogging background (minimum 2 years).
• A thorough understanding of pore-pressure and fracture gradients and estimation techniques.
• Understanding and interpreting Wellbore Stability Mechanisms’
• Proficiency in work related software packages. Good computer skills
