Deputy to Chief accountant

 

The Deputy to Chief accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.

 

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

·         Monitors compliance with local and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company’s financial procedures and processes;

·         Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in accounting entries, documents, and reports;

·          Assures compliance with local tax policies, regulations and laws;

·         Reviews accounts payables/receivables and weekly check runs;

·         Prepares work papers and supporting schedules for Chief Accountant review and authorization;

·         Staff management and development;

·         Distributes monthly comparison reports and cost center reports according to schedules;

·         Prepares monthly financial reports and budget vs.actual comparison report to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position;

·         Closely maintains and monitors the fixed assets system;

·         Responsible for holding proper inventory controls and cost controls;

·         Participates at quarterly stock counts;

·         Participates at monthly cash counts;

·         Assists with annual budgets – prepares all allocations;

·         Prepares financial reports according to IFRS.

Education and Experience

 

  • Accounting/finance degree or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles;
  • Knowledge of auditing practices and principles;
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations;
  • Knowledge and experience of related computer applications;
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the management of financial systems and budgets, financial reporting, financial data analysis, auditing, taxation and financial advisory;
  • Knowledge of IFRS.
