Job Summary:
The Electrician-Marine is responsible for the entire vessels high and low voltages systems, power supplies and electric drives for machinery including the shippower supply units to the Instrument room.

Relationships:
The Electrician-Marine reports directly to the Chief engineer.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
People & Training
- Keep the Chief Engineer informed about irregularities discovered and action taken to correct these.
- Planning of larger maintenance work and any new installations together with the Chief Engineer.
- Participates in the company training program and in the fire squad. Part of the training program includes attending training seminars during onshore leave periods. Promotion is dependent on timely completion of the relevant parts of training schedule.
Process & Equipment
- Carries out around the vessel, daily, weekly and monthly check routines in accordance with the scheduling plans and correct any fault discovered.
- Carries out crucial maintenance whenever necessary and ensures any maintenance requiring shutdown of machinery is done whenever opportunity arises as directed by the Chief Engineer or 2nd Engineer.
- Records spare parts consumed and new requirements of supplies as directed by the Chief Engineer.
- Ensures that the spare part stock and consumable's at all times contains spare parts crucial for the machinery safety and operation of the vessel.
- Records maintenance carried out in the Maintenance Recording system.
- Maintains and updates files for Electrical spares in stock.
- Is responsible for repair and checks of electric hand tools and extension cables. Damaged cables to be repaired or taken out of use at once.
- Is responsible for good housekeeping in Electrical Workshop and Stores and that the spare parts are kept properly stored and secured to avoid damage by humidity, corrosion or the ship movements in the sea.
Quality & HSE
- Respects and follows relevant parts of the Maritime Quality / Safety Management System.
- Promotes awareness of, and compliance to, company policies, standards, procedures and safety critical tasks relating to your assigned job and location.
- Ensures safe working procedures for critical activity under your control are adequate, understood by all and adhered to.
- Reports all accidents and/or unsafe conditions in a timely manner. Where possible and it is safe and reasonably prudent to do so, remedies any unsafe conditions prior to reporting.
- Participates in cross-department audits on a regular basis.
- Protects the environment and prevents pollution according to company policies.
- Ensures that all personal certificates for offshore survival, helicopter underwater escape training (HUET), fire fighting training and any statutory medical certificates, according to company standards, are kept current and do not lapse. Keeps required vaccination certificates valid.
- Acts as a member of emergency control teams (ECT) as indicated on safety plan and notice board. Be available for loss prevention team (LPT).
- Uses the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), takes part in emergency drills and attends all crew safety meetings, maintains good housekeeping around your work and accommodation areas.

Previous Experience and Competencies:
The Electrician-Marine should be hired with an appropriate Local Maritime Diploma or equivalent education that leads to qualification to operate Ships Electrical and electronic systems. He or she must have a minimum 2 year of sea time and See Documentations/Maritime Certificates.
