Job Summary:

Maritime Engineer is responsible for operating and maintenance of machinery related to the engine room and maneuvering of vessels.

Relationships:

Chief Engineer reports to Captain and Vessel Superintendent. The Engine department is managed by Chief Engineer. This role has three levels: Chief Engineer, 2nd Engineer and 3rd Engineer

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

- Respect and follow the Maritime Quality / Safety Management System.
- Carry out maintenance whenever necessary and ensure any maintenance requiring shutdown of machinery is done whenever opportunity arises.
- Comply with the guideline "Instructions for Engineer in charge EO-plant."
- Participate in bunkering operations of fuel and lube oil.
- Ensure that the spare part stock and consumable's at all times contains spare parts crucial for the machinery safety and operation of the vessel.
- Ensure good housekeeping in the engine room, workshop and Stores and that the spare parts are kept properly stored and secured to avoid damage by humidity, corrosion or the ship movements in the sea.
- Monitor all systems and machinery ensuring that they are operated within the limit for levels, temperatures and pressures which is stated in the makers' operations manuals.
- Participate in the fire squad. See Emergency plan for duties.

Previous Experience and Competencies:

Maritime Engineer should be hired with an appropriate Local Maritime Diploma or equivalent education that leads to qualification to operate Ships Energy plants and Systems. He or she must have a minimum 3 year of sea time and See Documentations/Maritime Certificates.

- Excellent communication, organizational and teamwork skills.
