Technical Knowledge:

- Demonstrates technical progression by keeping studies for professional exams up to date.
- Understands the basic concepts and requirements relating to the Member Firm’s audit approach.
- Progressively demonstrates a greater understanding of business and finance.
- Progressively able to understand and document accounting and internal control systems correctly.
- Understands the concept of audit materiality and how to apply to audit tests.
- Understands the audit plan.
- Understands and performs tests of internal controls and substantive audit procedures as directed and in accordance with Member Firm policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates full understanding of less complex audit areas and required audit procedures (e.g. fixed assets, bank and cash, capital and reserves, etc.).
- Understands double entry bookkeeping.
- Able to prepare and understand financial statements of small/non complex entities.
- Understands Member Firm Ethics and Independence Policies and their applicability to the Member Firm, himself/herself and close relatives.
- Identifies and refers ethical, independence and conflict issues to supervisors.
- Progressively able to use the Member Firm’s audit software and technology tools effectively.

Assignment Management and Financial Control

- Completes allocated tasks in accordance with directions given.
- Refers possible engagement issues and solutions to supervisor promptly.
- Identifies potential cost and/or time overruns and brings them to the attention of supervisor.
- Develops professional relationships with client personnel to facilitate completion of work.

Staff and Self Management

- Improves knowledge and skills through training and education programs and self-study.
- Communicates clearly and professionally by telephone and in person.
- Writes test conclusions, which are supported by the audit evidence and simple letters in a professional style.
- Completes tasks in allotted time.
- Listens actively and responds to coaching.
- Maintains personal documentation (training records, timesheets and expense claims).

Business Development

- Understands the Member Firm’s approach to marketing.
- Begins to develop an understanding of the Member Firm’s services and how these are applied to client’s needs.
