Job Purpose: Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.

Duties:

• Assist the mechanic(s) in performing moderate to complex overhaul and repair work on engines, transmissions, drive unit, brakes, suspension systems, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, alternators, electrical systems, instrumentations and other necessary power equipment;

• Keep equipment available for use by inspecting and testing; completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil change, tire rotation and change, wheel balancing, replacing filters;
• Maintain vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage;
• Verify vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems;
• Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting;
• Maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs;
• Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs;
• Contain costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options;
• Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt;
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications;
• Achieve high levels of safety performance and fully comply with all safety rules and procedures;

• Have basic knowledge and skills in servicing and general repairs to plant, equipment and vehicles;

• Report to the Mechanics on any problems with the plant, equipment and vehicles that require actions;

• Assist in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Experience in working with diesel engines and hydraulic systems;
• Proven competency in servicing and repair of plant, equipment, vehicles and material handling equipment;
• A minimum of 2-3 years related experience in industry;
• Ability to communicate and work as a team;
• Intermediate English reading, writing and language skills;
• Thorough understanding of HSE requirements & behavior.
