Role synopsis

This role will be part of the Seismic Delivery Team (SDT) within the Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey (AGT) Region, reporting to the Seismic Delivery Manager. Seismic is a key technology in the exploration, development and production of BP’s Azerbaijan portfolio.
You will be responsible for managing consistent delivery of safe Geophysical Operations. You are also responsible for seismic acquisition design and overall raw seismic data quality. This will be delivered through the rigorous application of the Upstream Defined Practice for Management of Geophysical Operations (UDP-MoGO). The surveys you are likely to be involved in may include large towed streamer, OB and Transition zone surveys. You will also be involved in the Geophysical Ops support for VSPs and other acquisition types which fall under the UDP-MoGO.
In addition you will be actively coaching more junior staff in their development as Acquisition Specialists.

Key accountabilities

- Working with the Seismic Delivery Manager, Geophysical Discipline Lead and project geophysicists to develop project Scopes of Work, timing and cost estimates for individual seismic acquisition activities to be carried out in the AGT Region.
- Develop and Implement project resource plans.
- Manage the contracting and contractor activities
- Organise all permits required to carry out the operations.
- Work with RPU Operations and Logistics teams, HSSE teams, Marine and Aviation Authorities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Acting as BP representative, planning, managing and coordinating the seismic QA/QC and the field operations.
- Provide assurance throughout the project to ensure technical and HSSE are delivered as promised in the contract.
- Coach and support development of staff.

Essential Education

- Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering or Earth Sciences

Essential experience and job requirements

- Minimum 4 or 5 years of relevant experience
- Minimum of a NEBOSH International General Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational Safety and Health

Desirable criteria & qualifications

- Experience with the BP UDP MoGO is preferred
- Proven leadership skills, have a proactive attitude, and be interested in finding solutions and making improvements for the benefit of safe seismic operations.
- Fluency in written and spoken English language.
- Proven coaching and mentoring skills
