Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) is Azerbaijan’s national tourism organization. Our core tasks include the management of the "Holiday in Azerbaijan" brand, innovative marketing in the most internationally promising markets and the transfer of our knowledge of guests and markets to the domestic tourism industry. In this way we make an important contribution to the competitiveness of the holiday destination Azerbaijan.

Currently we are looking for an experienced Communication Manager to coordinate ATB´s activities within the EU funded project called COVCHEG.

Project description: ATB is partner of the Project COVCHEG “Community-based Value Chain Enhancement in the Greater Caucasus Mountains area in Azerbaijan”, funded by the European Commission, project leader is Slow Food Italy. The project will be implemented in five regions of Azerbaijan: Shamakhi, Ismayilli, Gabala, Sheki and Qakh.

In these territories the project will consider specifically two main intervention sectors, agriculture and gastronomic tourism, contributing to the valorisation of identities and local gastronomy, conservation of biodiversity and cultural heritage, and sustainable livelihoods potential. Through internationally proved Slow Food models, Ark of Taste, Presidia, Earth Markets, Slow Food Travel, the project will not only advance knowledge and skills of beneficiaries but will result in specific food chain development model and tourism products and practices of the pilot districts, and, in overall, will serve as a model for further multiplication in Azerbaijan.

The communication manager closely collaborates with the project manager and corresponds with other project staff and external parties/organizations to keep them informed of project activities and results. He/she further organizes events in Azerbaijan and Italy and drafts presentations and speeches. The communication and event manager creates strategies to raise awareness and to promote Slow Food activities among the local stakeholders such as farmers, other producers, hosts of Slow Food Travel, etc. Communicate is further needed with the national media and other interested international parties. The ideal candidate for this role demonstrates exceptional organizational abilities, multi-tasking skills, and excellent time-management.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• communication with project partners, beneficiaries, and consumers;
• setting up of social media channels and creation of the website, drafting of specific project publications;
• prepare and manage press releases;
• create social media content and communication strategies with team leader and project manager;
• manage social media accounts and website and respond to questions and comments from stakeholders and consumers of the project;
• update EU DIGITOOL platforms with team leader and project supervisors;
• participate at relevant events and build up close relations with strategic partners and organisations;
• organize events, presentations and manage gatherings of Youth Network in cooperation with local staff and volunteers by reporting to supervisors and beneficiaries;
• coordinating events and exhibition stands, looking for partners such as for lighting, styling, food and venues, and collect offers regarding venues for the events;
• ensuring that staff for the event are hired, supervised and briefed;
• prepare budget proposals and managing budgeting of the events in cooperation with team leader and finance office;
• create feedback surveys and organize database of participants and partners.

Requirements:

• Working knowledge of English and Azerbaijani languages;
• 5 years experience in communication management of international development projects;
• Experience in organizing and conducting of complex activities such as events, campaigns to varied audiences;
• Experience in the preparation, organisation and implementation of events and press conferences;
• Understanding of Slow Food values and models is considered a strong asset.
