Job Title: Instrumentation Technician
Duties & Responsibilities:
Include, but are not limited to the following:
Select correct pipe, elbows, flanges, hangers or supports, cut to correct length, thread pipe, bend pipes / tubes using saws, pipe cutter, tube bender hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine and plan assembly
Layout, assemble, position, grind, align and fit components together usually for hydraulic or pneumatic processes.
Assemble and install variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and plastic
Installation of all type of transmitters, detectors, RTD & thermocouples etc.
Installation of cable management systems (trays and trunks).
Drilling and cutting penetrations through bulkheads (walls).
Pulling, terminating & glanding cables, crimping and creating looms
Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams
Ability to use measurement devices such as multi-meter, insulation tester, Hart Communicator, DPI 611 / 612
Ability to read P&ID, Wiring drawings, Block Diagrams, Hook-up drawings etc.
Physically able to meet requirements of the job including, working in confined spaces, lifting heavy equipment, and working at elevated heights
Installation of cable management systems (trays and trunking)
Terminating & glanding cables, crimping and creating looms
Installation, Isolation, reinstatement and associated construction testing of instrumentation devices in NON-HAZARDOUS and HAZARDOUS areas.
Read, understand and implement all applicable company/project policies, working practices, and procedures, ensuring at all times that all works associated with the role of Instrumentation Technician is completed safely and to a high standard.
Complete all work scope in accordance with applicable work pack/job card instructions, associated procedures and drawings / sketches.
Undertake responsibility to comply with all the Occupation Health and Safety requirements applied within the company.
Physically able to meet requirements of the job, including, working on confined spaces, lifting heavy equipment, and working at elevated heights
Fulfill Performing Authority responsibilities with the below listed tasks:
Reports and interacts regularly with the AA and AAA on any Management of Change (MOC) issues to ensure the risks from all hazards are mitigated by controls to ALARP.
Create the Permit and identify the hazards and control measures (Level 1 Risk Assessment) for the task being planned.
Participate in any Level 2 Risk Assessment where required.
Ensure that where other persons are involved in the task, they fully understand the scope of the work and the hazards and controls for the job by holding a toolbox talk meeting. This includes ensuring that all of those involved in the specific work activity sign off the worksite hard copy of the Permit.
Ensure that only personnel authorized by the Permit participate in the work and no unauthorized interference takes place.
Ensure that all controls are applied prior to commencing task.
Ensure that only work covered within the scope of the Permit takes place.
Ensure that the worksite is kept in a clean and safe condition both during and upon completion of the job.
Ensure adequate handovers take place at shift and crew change periods with the oncoming PA and AA.
Education/Experience and Qualification:
Relevant technical education or recognized industry apprenticeship.
Minimum 3 years of experience in the relevant field.
Intermediate written and verbal communication skills in English
Candidates with full details CompEX (EX01,EX02,EX03,EX04) /BOSIET /Hawke Gland and Termination certificates are preferable.
Rope Access Level1 certificate is preferable
