Shadow Teacher (Learning Support Teacher)
Scope: Shadow Teacher (Learning Support Teacher)
A Shadow Teacher (Learning Support Teacher) should be an inspirational, passionate and adaptable educator with the ability to deliver support for a specified student across a broad spectrum of needs. He/She should be an outstanding motivator, learner and communicator, with excellent interpersonal skills, and should be capable of supporting the needs of the specified student in learning programs in a stimulating, challenging and well-organized learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- To act as learning and social support for the student;
- To liaise with teachers to enable the student to participate and progress in lessons;
- To support the student in developing social connections with peers and staff;
- To support the student with any physical needs (if needed);
- To promote the health and safety of the assigned student;
- To liaise with the student’s family in supporting student’s learning needs.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience of providing individual learning support for a student with special educational needs;
- Individual one-on-one support for the students with learning, organization, social needs and liaison with family;
- To be aligned with the school values of diversity, passion, identity and understanding;
- To possess excellent communication skills and be willing to adapt to the demands of an international school, in particular he/she should be able to communicate effectively in English;
- To have a high level of understanding as to how the specified student learns and possess the ability to motivate him/her to perform at his/her best;
Requirements:
- Has to have qualities of kindness, sympathy, support, attention to detail, high levels of patience and ethical values;
- Good ability to interact with students and teachers;
- Must have B2+ English. Does not need any teaching qualification;
- Support will include lunch and break times.
