A local English (C1) speaking Primary Years Program Homeroom Teacher

The “European Azerbaijan School” Education Complex LLC” is a bi-lingual school established in 2011 by The European Azerbaijan Society. The European Azerbaijan School teaches an integrated curriculum combining both the National Curriculum of Azerbaijan and the IB Program.

EAS is seeking a qualified, trained and experienced, motivated and dedicated local Primary Years homeroom teacher, who is committed to developing students to their full potential in a supportive and caring environment. Applicants must have a teaching degree that is recognized by the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan. The position is open for beginning of 2018-2019 academic year.

Responsibilities:

- Teaching all areas of the primary curriculum;
- Taking responsibility for the progress of a class of primary-age students;
- Organizing the classroom and learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive learning environment;
- Planning, preparing and presenting differentiated lessons that cater the needs of the whole ability range within their class;
- Motivating students with enthusiastic, imaginative class activities;
- Preparing, marking and providing feedback to facilitate positive student development;
- Meeting requirements for the assessment. Records, evaluates and reports student’s development;
- Providing feedback to parents on student's progress;
- Working collaboratively with others to plan and coordinate work;
- Organizing and taking part for school events, outings and activities;
- Undertake special assignments, ad-hoc functions and related duties as and when required.

Requirements:

- Higher education in Elementary Teaching/Education or equivalent (preferably a master degree);
- At least two years of professional teaching experience;
- Expertise in teaching early literacy and Math skills;
- Previous experience teaching the curriculum of the school would be preferable;
- Knowledge and experience developing primary curriculum or creating PYP units is preferable;
- Comfortable proactively learning new technology and integrating technology into the classroom to increase learning;
- Previous experience working in an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, experience with Constructivist learning pedagogy or Inquiry Based-Primary Years Program (PYP) pedagogy;
- Fluent English speaking and writing skills (C1);
- Excellent knowledge of computer office standard applications, such as MS Office, Excel and Power Point;
- Ability to apply interactive teaching and learning methods.

CVs will be shortlisted based on a candidate’s work experience and meeting the requirements.

Successful candidates will be tested for their subject knowledge and competency and be required to write a pedagogic essay. Candidates who have passed this stage will be asked to present a demonstration lesson to show their abilities in modern teaching/learning methods and technologies.
