Position: Systems Software Engineer
Department: Technology and Information Services
POSITION SUMMARY
The Systems Software Engineer is responsible for the complete life cycle of a new or modified software product, from research and design to implementation, training and support. The Systems Software Engineer is an integral member of the Technology and Information Services Team and reports to Chief Information Officer (CIO).
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other programming-centric field of study;
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of computer systems, hardware, and software operations and principles. Ability to write well documented, modular applications;
• Knowledge in Object Oriented programming and design patterns (especially MVC), experience with Groovy/Java/Grails framework/ J2EE/ Spring Framework, Oracle PL/SQL. Creating user interfaces using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript/Backbone.js;
• Experience with service oriented architecture – SOAP, RESTful, working with XML, Json, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
• participate in functional requirements to understand business and technical needs;
• analyze organization’s needs and develop software solutions within time constraints;
• program, test, debug, monitor and document changes to computer systems & applications;
• upgrade existing computer programs to updated platforms with new specifications;
• to make changes and enhancements to existing software systems and computer applications;
• coordinate system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure project specs are met;
• responsible for system security and data assurance across the systems they're developing;
• responsible for designing, building, and supporting the components of business intelligence services, data analytics, data visualization and reporting tools;
• other duties assigned by CIO.
