Position:  Manager, Media Buying and Int’l advertising

Reports to: Director, Marketing and Communications

Objectives:

Negotiate, purchase and monitor advertising space and airtime on behalf of the project. The aim is to reach the highest number of people in the target audience at the lowest possible cost.

Responsibilities:

• Identify the target audience for a particular media campaign and deciding how best to communicate to that audience.
• Keep up to date with industry research figures, including distribution figures (newspapers and magazines) and audience figures (television and radio).
• Monitor buying strategies.
• Liaise and build relationships media sales companies and advertising agencies
• Negotiate with media sales companies to obtain the best rates and most appropriate media spaces in online, broadcast and print advertising
• Negotiate with advertising agencies to obtain the best rates and most appropriate advertising spaces in targeted countries
• Communicate with media sales people to adjust media schedules in response to audience figures
• Book individual advertising spots, incl OOH, airports and online pages, posters, banners and broadcast adverts
• Ensure that the adverts run accurately so that the desired media message is seen and heard by consumers
• Report and budget management, including preparing costing and producing spending updates throughout the campaign
• Collect and analyze sales and consumer data
• Undertake research using a range of specialist media resources
• Analyze effectiveness of campaigns and use this data to inform future campaigns.

Requirements:

• Proven working experience in advertising, media buying
• Commercial and budget awareness
• Good numerical, analytical and research skills to evaluate campaigns;
• negotiation skills to get the best advertising space at the best price;
• a good understanding of media;
• Presentation skills for reporting back
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Team work and interpersonal skills for liaising with clients and colleagues;
• the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and make decisions quickly;
• IT literacy; 
• strong organizational skills, accuracy and the ability to assimilate information quickly;
• creativity and problem-solving skills;
• Strong relationships with local media outlets
• Experience in acting as a company spokesperson; comfortable and skilled in both broadcast and print media interviews
• Exceptional English writing and editing skills, fluent Azeri, English and Russian, Arabic is a plus
• Solid experience with social media including blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
• University degree in advertising; business or management studies; English and journalism; marketing; media studies and communications; and statistics.
