POSITION SUMMARY

The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database. DBA involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users. The DBA is an integral member of the Technology and Information Services Team and reports to Chief Information Officer (CIO).

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, System Engineering or other related field of study;
• Experience with Oracle 12c, excellent knowledge in SQL and PL/SQL, ability to create complicated queries;
• Good knowledge in Operating System, Oracle database architecture and all Oracle tools. Understanding physical architecture of database;
• Experience with third party reporting tools such as Argos.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

• responsible for all aspects of database administration including gathering requirements, database management systems (DBMS) architecture design, DBMS installation and configuration, performance monitoring and tuning, database security, data back-up, recovery planning, and capacity planning;
• understand and support the University’s business processes and applications, including their effect on data and reporting, and applies that knowledge to improve data analytics and reporting systems;
• work with end users in various departments across campus to resolve issues and ensure that database applications are meeting the needs of the end user. Develops reports and custom requests for users as needed and necessary;
• responsible for designing, building, and supporting the components of business intelligence services, data warehousing, data analytics, and data visualization and reporting tools;
• support colleagues in the Information Technology Department in the implementation, maintenance and upgrade of enterprise applications with respect to their underlying database systems and integration with other information systems;
• establish documentation for procedures and processes required to maintain the integrity and operation of the University's database and reporting systems, and ensures they are continually maintained;
• developing academic and functional reports directly from database and using reporting tools like Argos;
• other duties assigned by CIO.
