Role synopsis

In order to support ongoing work in the region, PD&MS Group are looking for a Senior Project/Delivery Manager to join the team based in Baku, Azerbaijan.  The role requires a high degree of Drilling Equipment and System knowledge.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the successful delivery of all Caspian based projects and providing specialist Drilling Facility knowledge/ input from appraisal to close-out ensuring they are delivered to the client on time and on budget.

Key Responsibilities

General project management tasks at company premises, client premises, offshore, third party sites and yards pursuant to the project being managed as follows:

• Ensuring Appraise, Select, Define, Onshore and Offshore Execute and Close-out Phases, or parts thereof, of all projects are driven and delivered safely in line with, or ahead of client expectations.
• Ensuring all Caspian projects are effectively completed strictly in accordance with the requirements of the contract as a minimum, and that adequate resources both in Baku and Aberdeen are in place to meet those requirements.
• Understanding and positively reacting to Client needs in an expedient and proactive manner, to make the client feel valued and understood.
• Responsible for managing Client and Vendor interfaces to ensure seamless project execution is achieved.
• Providing direction and support to project personnel to achieve or exceed targets and KPI's
• Establishing and setting clear goals and priorities for projects
• Proactive identification of potential issues / conflicts and timely resolution of same
• Convene and chair periodic project meetings and project reviews with clear and concise actions agreed and executed
• Ensuring accurate and timely reporting and planning
• Operational input to Senior Management Review meetings
•  Periodic review of company procedures and policies and development and improvement of same to meet client expectations and ensuring integration where required.
• Preserving the reputation and interests of PD&MS as Drilling Facility engineering design experts, and those of the client at all times
• Overseeing and buy in to the preparation of project cost estimates and approval of same
• Ensuring own and project personnel compliance with Company and Client Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Policies
• Ensuring robust commercial change control mechanisms / procedures are being adhered to diligently
• Attend project meetings whether internally or externally at Client premises and ensure their frequency and repetition
• Establishing a good working relationship and rapport with Company and Client project team members to ensure a high degree of project harmony
• Authorised to perform general project management activities as per above listed responsibilities, as a minimum, on behalf of the Company
• Authorised to interface with Clients on behalf of the Company
• Authorised to manage Company project teams and vendors on behalf of the Company
• Authorised to approve project expenditure and costs on behalf of the Company, within company approval matrix
• Authorised to accept and approve project related contracts and purchase orders on behalf of the Company, within Company guidelines and procedures

Essential qualifications and experience

• BSc In Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• In lieu of above, an HND certificate, Coupled with 10 Years hands on experience in design and construction or maintenance engineering
• 10 Years’ experience in the related supervisory or managerial role
• Min 10 years’ experience of Drilling Facility design, Drilling systems and Drilling equipment. 
• A sound knowledge of Drilling Operations and Maintenance techniques/ requirements
• Significant knowledge of the latest generation drilling facilities, preferably with experience of the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of new-build Drilling Modules/ Facilities.
• Solid understanding of all disciplines likely to be encountered as Project Manager
• Proven dexterity In the use of Auto CAD or a similar draughting package (not essential)
• Solid understanding and knowledge of multi-discipline engineering design development, detailed design and design verification
• Strong knowledge and familiarisation with oil & gas Industry standards and codes
• Significant exposure to onshore and offshore oil & gas Industry construction activities through to close-out
• A high degree of dexterity in the use of standard software packages, such as Microsoft Office
• BOSIET, Offshore Medical and significant offshore survey experience
