SECTION 1: POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Mechanical Engineer
With 10 years work background in the required field and preferable experience in BP operated projects.
SECTION 2: KEY ROLES
• Member of a team of Mechanical Technicians in Execute Phase commissioning activities during onshore construction/commissioning, offshore installation/Hookup and Commissioning and Start Up
• Lead a team of Commissioning mechanical technicians, and plan and schedule daily work activities
• Completion of assigned mechanical pre commissioning activities and checksheets
• To manage assigned aspects of Mechanical static and dynamic commissioning as required.
• Deliver Mechanical Commissioning through the System Handover Management Process
SECTION 3: PRE-REQUISITES
SECTION 3.1: BASIC SKILLS
• Competent in communicating in English language.
• Ability to work on own initiative.
• Good inter-personal and communication skills.
• Deep knowledge of Mechanical, HVAC and Rotating Equipment.
• Ability to supervise Mechanical technicians
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and communicate with discipline engineers and technicians
• Ability to interpret and understand P&ID’s, D&ID’s, UFD’s, PFD’s, GA’s and engineering datasheets in English.
• Computer literate in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
SECTION 3.2: TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum A recognised mechanical/process qualification from their native country
SECTION 3.3: RESPONSIBILITIES & OBJECTIVES
Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate personal HSSE leadership and excellent HSE behaviours at all times, and ensure that safety expectations are communicated and maintained.
• Communicate with technician reports daily and talk through the following days activities identifying any HSSE issues to be raised at toolbox talks.
• Attend all mandatory training as specified in HSE, and Permit To Work training schedule.
• Ensure all team members are fully aware and understand all the projects safe working practices and adhere to them to maintain a SAFE working environment.
• Ensure all team members adhere to the Permit to Work procedure and fully understand the process
• Provide coaching / mentor national and junior team members as necessary
• Assist technician reports to resolve any technical issues.
• Ensure technicians submit daily the checksheets records of testing carried out.
• Carry out mechanical completion line walks of mechanical and process systems and compile punch lists in accordance with project specifications
• Carry out line walks and apply process isolations where instructed.
• Understand the requirements for vessel inspections, alignments, PSV’s, Flushing and inspections
• Assist discipline engineers to compile Livening Up Notices to allow sub system/system energisation
• Inspect mechanical and process equipment in line with project specifications and complete the associated ITR paper work.
• Take part in Tri Party Sub System/System Mechanical Completion walk downs and punch list item categorization.
• System Handover Management Process pre commissioning checksheet completion
• As building mechanical and process documents in accordance with project procedure

• Ensure the projects commitment to Safety is maintained.
• To complete the work scope assigned within the defined project schedule, ensuring the engineering design standards are achieved and equipment operability satisfactorily demonstrated
