Public Relations and Marketing Director

Job Description:

YARAT Contemporary Art Space is looking for an experienced full-time Public Relations and Marketing Director to provide creative strategies in promoting the organisation and all its activities.

Responsibilities overview:

The primary areas of responsibility are to successfully promote the organisation nationally and regionally; to create and implement an external communications strategy for the organisation; to build on-going public interest and support for YARAT Contemporary Art Space activities; and to sustain and expand the organisation’s various audiences.

Requirements:

General requirements include: a degree in communications, or a related field; 5+ years of experience in marketing/communications, demonstrated success in planning and conducting marketing and communications campaigns; ability to develop effective working relationships — internal and external — and implementing media- and non-media-based community relations efforts; knowledge of national creative industries and audience trends; experience in communications, ideally in a large, high profile organisation; excellent research, writing in Azerbaijani, English and, preferably, Russian; excellent public speaking and presentation skills; ability to interact effectively with media, the public, and colleagues at all levels; ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment; and a high level of creativity and entrepreneurship; ability to manage a team of up to ten people.

Skills:

The ideal candidate will possess impressive energy, drive, and vision; experience within the cultural sector, preferably modern and contemporary visual arts, performing arts, film and media arts is highly desirable.

Main responsibilities:

• To work directly with the YARAT board to create and implement external communications strategy for the organisation.
• To work with international and local project managers to determine marketing needs/timelines/goals for each project.
• To write and edit content for a variety of channels, including website, social media, emails, members’ e-newsletter etc. Maintain consistency in wording, branding and messaging across all communications to ensure the organisation is appropriately represented.
• To prepare press releases/press kits for local and international exhibitions, education programmes, special events and other initiatives of the organisation if necessary.
• To manage the organization’s media and guests databases, ensuring they are up-to-date and appropriately targeted.
• To act as liaison with international PR firms when necessary.
• To attend YARAT exhibition openings, education and other events, as the organisation's media representative, as requested.
• To supervise a team of up to ten people, including PR managers, editors and visual communications managers.
