Senior Mechanical Commissioning Engineer
Reporting to Commissioning Team Lead/ Manager
Essential qualifications:
• HNC/HND - Mechanical Engineering or related subject
• Bachelor or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• Permit to work Training/Safety
• HAZOP Training
Essential experience:
• Proven experience as a mechanical commissioning engineer on oil and gas projects or related industry
• Conversant with the completions process and associated completions management software [WinPCS, Mancon, GOC, GoCompletions®, EDS etc.].
• Experienced in the supervision of personnel and team working.
• Good knowledge of O&G related HSEQ safe working practices / procedures.
Desirable experience:
• Experience in similar role
• Knowledge and use of planning systems

• Familiar with O&G industry Permit to Work Systems
Competencies – Technical:
• Ability to interpret procedures and drawings in particular extensive understanding of P&ID's / SLD's / D&ID's etc.
• Ability to produce technical documents and procedures covering all aspects of the commissioning process
• IT literate in all major software packages [Word / Excel / Power Point etc.]
• Excellent knowledge of petrochemical, oil and gas mechanical equipment commissioning, operation, installation and repair - or similar knowledge from an equivalent industry eg nuclear
• Excellent knowledge of petrochemical, oil and gas process control systems or from an equivalent industry
• Familiar with O&G industry Permit to Work Systems
Competencies – Project / department specific:
• Conversant with completions / commissioning management software
• Fully conversant with the completions / commissioning process
Primary Function:
• Accountable for the safe and timely preparation and execution of the project Mechanical commissioning workscope, in adherence with project HSEQ safety targets, procedures and practices,
• Accountable for ensuring all mechanical commissioning is carried out in accordance with project commissioning specifications, standards and procedures.
• Accountable for developing the project Mechanical commissioning strategy and approving Mechanical procedures
• Accountable for ensuring Mechanical commissioning is carried out in accordance with project schedules and budget.
Key Objectives:
• To play an active role in ensuring that all project HSE goals are achieved and where possible exceeded.
• To process safe completion of designated Mechanical commissioning activities in line with the project schedule and milestones in a consistent and timely manner.
• To assist in maintenance of the project budget through diligence and utilisation of efficient and working practices.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include:
• Supervise the safe completion of the project pre-commissioning/commissioning work-scope
• Supervise and support the project Mechanical Commissioning Team.
• Provide mechanical input into project Mechanical system design during the project design phase.
• Provide Mechanical commissioning input to the project plans and schedules
• Develop project Mechanical commissioning strategy documents
• Review/approve and supervise the design and installation of minor temporary Mechanical systems / supplies
• Review and approve Mechanical commissioning procedures - ensure compliance with project standards, specifications and procedures.
• Ensure all Mechanical commissioning activities adhere to all applicable site / project safety procedures and practices.
• Actively participate in all company and project safety initiatives
• Liaise with the Mechanical engineering office to ensure that the Mechanical fabrication drawings are produced in line with commissioning requirements.
• Audit site/project Mechanical activities on a regular basis to ensure all compliance with project safety, environmental, and quality requirements,
• Monitor and report Mechanical commissioning progress on a regular basi
• Approve all Mechanical system/sub-system mechanical completion, pre-commissioning and commissioning sign-off certificates/milestones
• Ensure a safe Mechanical Permit to Work and isolation system is in place and adhered to.
• Manage/attend project HAZID's / Risk Assessments
Other duties may include
• Provide input into audit reviews.
• Provide input into budget management and cost control.
• Provide input into planning process as requested.
• Provide input into safety reviews / walk-rounds.
