Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer

Reporting to Commissioning Team Lead/ Manager

Essential qualifications:

• HNC/HND Electrical Engineering or related subject 

Desirable qualifications: 

• Diploma or Bachelor in  Electrical Engineering
• Permit to work Training/Safety
• HAZOP Training

Essential experience:

• Proven experience as a Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer on an oil and gas project or related industry project
• Conversant with the completions process and associated completions management software [WinPCS, Mancon, GOC, GoCompletions®, EDS etc.].
• Experienced in the supervision of personnel and team working.
• Good knowledge of O&G related SHEQ safe working practices / procedures.

Desirable experience: 

• Experience in similar role
• Knowledge and use of planning systems
• Budget and cost control experience

• Ability to interpret procedures and drawings in particular

Competencies – Technical:

• Extensive understanding of P&ID's / SLD's / D&ID's etc.
• Ability to produce technical documents and procedures covering all aspects of the commissioning process
• IT literate in all major software packages [Word / Excell / Power Point etc.]
• Excellent  knowledge of LV and or HV electrical systems
• Knowledge and use of O&G industry Permit to Work Systems.

Competencies – project / department specific: 

• Conversant with completions / commissioning management software
• Fully conversant with the completions / commissioning process

Primary Function: 

• Accountable for the safe and timely preparation and execution of the project Electrical commissioning work scope, in adherence with project HSEQ safety targets, procedures and practices.
• Accountable for ensuring all Electrical commissioning is carried out in accordance with project commissioning specifications, standards and procedures.  
• Accountable for developing the project Electrical commissioning strategy and approving electrical procedures
• Accountable for ensuring Electrical commissioning is carried out in accordance with project schedules and budget.

Key Objectives: 

• To play an active role in ensuring that all project HSE goals are achieved and where possible exceeded.
• To process safe completion of designated Electrical commissioning activities in line with the project schedule and milestones in a consistent and timely manner.
• To assist in maintenance of the project budget through diligence and utilisation of efficient and working practices.

Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities include:

• Supervise the safe completion of the project Electrical pre-commissioning/commissioning work-scope
• Supervise and support the project Electrical Commissioning Team.
• Provide Fire & Gas input into project Electrical system design during the project design phase.
• Provide Electrical commissioning input to the project plans and schedules
• Develop project Electrical commissioning strategy documents
• Review/approve and supervise the design and installation of  minor temporary Electrical systems / supplies
• Review and approve Electrical commissioning procedures - ensure compliance with project standards, specifications and procedures.
• Ensure all Electrical commissioning activities adhere to all applicable site / project safety procedures and practices.
• Actively participate in all company and project safety initiatives
• Liaise with the Electrical engineering office to ensure that the electrical fabrication drawings are produced in line with commissioning requirements.
• Audit site/project Electrical activities on a regular basis to ensure all compliance with project safety, environmental, and quality requirements,
• Monitor and report Electrical commissioning progress on a regular basis
• Approve all Electrical system/sub-system mechanical completion, pre-commissioning and commissioning sign-off certificates/milestones
• Ensure a safe Electrical Permit to Work and isolation system is in place and adhered to.
• Manage/attend project HAZID's / Risk Assessments

Other duties may include

• Provide input into audit reviews.
• Provide input into budget management and cost control.
• Provide input into planning process as requested.
• Provide input into safety reviews / walk-rounds.
