In addition to pioneering in the field of optical fire and gas detection, MICROPACK is also experienced in fire research work and the effects of offshore environmental conditions on optical detection methods. This subsequently led to MICROPACK developing its own range of mapping tools, capable of quantifying the performance of fire and gas detection systems. MICROPACK applied its unique expertise and technology in its own range of products, including the FDS range of Visual Flame Detectors.

We are currently looking for a number of FIRE AND GAS INSTRUMENT ENGINEERS to join our Company in Azerbaijan.

JOB DESCRIPTION  

TITLE: FIRE AND GAS INSTRUMENT ENGINEER

SUMMARY FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for the installation, commissioning, managing and/or maintaining Fire & Gas Detection field instrumentation and the sub-systems used to monitor and control CCTV fire detection systems and processes.
Working closely with colleagues across a number of functions such as operations, purchasing and design.  Fully supports the company Quality Management System and adheres to written procedures and work instructions.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Installation supervision of detailed fire and gas detection system design to meet client and current British and European Standards.maintaining and modifying existing systems;
2. Maintenance of the F&G systems;
3. Working collaboratively with design engineers, operation engineers, purchasers and other internal staff;
4. Liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors and relevant authorities;
5. Troubleshooting and problem-solving;
6. Interpret, review, and develop fire and gas detection drawings.
7. Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications as required by code.
8. Understanding and ensuring compliance with the health and safety regulations and quality standards of the country in which work is undertaken;
9. Purchasing equipment;
10. Accepting responsibility and a level of accountability commensurate with the seniority of the position.
11. Performs other engineering duties as requested by the Senior Engineer

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Educational- Degree in Instrumentation
Age- 30/40 years
Fluent in English

DESIRABLE:  

Experience in the design of fire and gas detection systems including addressable and non-addressable systems
Systems include smoke, flammable and toxic gases, VESDA, Aspirator Panels
Specification of equipment items such as Fire & Gas Panels, Control panels and PLC logic.
A working knowledge of the ATEX directive and other codes and standards for use of electrical equipment in hazardous areas
A working knowledge of PLC control systems

ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Senior Engineer. Coordinates activities with Consultants, Design Engineers, purchasing and operational administration.
