Role synopsis

The Subsea Wells Operations Team Leader will report directly to the Subsea Wells Manager and is a key member of the Subsea Wells (AGT) Team. The role is an onshore position responsible for Leading and Managing a group of Subsea Wells Engineers whom are responsible for Operational and Engineering planning, and execution activities. The SWOTL will ensure that all associated Subsea Well Operations are executed in a safe, timely and efficient manner. The principal accountability will be to work closely with other BP Drilling, Completion and Operational Teams to ensure all onshore and Offshore scopes are delivered on time to meet the respective Drilling and Completion Schedules. As well as supporting Subsea Wells Activities the SWOTL will also manage the other Teams accountabilities which include Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV’s), Riser Medline Recovery Systems (RMR), Emergency Intervention Systems, Well Capping and Containment Projects as well as other Minor Projects carried out within the Team. Ensure Vendors have the appropriate personnel, spares, aftermarket execution plans, process and procedures in place to support BP’s Operational and Aftermarket Operations. Work closely with other BP Projects Teams to align all Subsea Wells Equipment Interfaces and Requirements.

Key accountabilities 

• Serve as a Technical Specialist for Subsea Wells Engineering and associated Hardware.

• Demonstrate the ability to work within the framework of BP’s Operating and Management System (OMS)

• Day to day leadership and management of the onshore contractor support network.

• Interface closely with other BP functions and disciplines within the AGT Region to ensure all equipment, interfaces and procedures are available and compliant with BP Policies.

• Collaborate with other assets to identify options and select the optimum Well Design in support of Statement of

Requirements (SOR)

• Manage the interface for the GSH SPS and Wellhead Deliverables

• Performance Manage a series of Subsea Vendors and Monitor KPI’s.

• Ensure accurate cost control and reporting

• Participate in regular audits/reviews and Incident Investigations in relation to discipline.

• Provide functional assurance during Well Planning in the application of the Babb common Process

• Lead Vendor equipment related audits and support the Operational Teams on all audit closes out actions as required.

• Management and acceptance of Vendor KPI’s

• Lead FMECA (Failure Modes effects and Critical Analysis)

• Support the process of resourcing and recruiting new staff and the succession planning process which includes the development of BP Nationals into supporting roles

• Coaching and Career development of Subsea Wells Engineers/Specialists

Essential Education

• Engineering Degree

Essential experience and job requirements

• Minimum 10-15 years Industry experience in Subsea Wells Operations including XMT, Wellhead Completion Landing Strings (CLS) , IWOCS (Intervention Work over Control Systems) and BOP (Blowout Preventer) systems.

• Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in a Lead or Supervisory position preferably with a Leading Operator

• Experience in Managing 3rd Party Vendor Operations and Personnel

• Fluent in written, spoken, reading English

Desirable criteria & qualifications 

• Chartered Engineer

• Previous Experience in Managing large scale Contracts and Budgets

• Experience with Subsea Equipment Design , Manufacturing and Operations

• Experience of developing and implementation of procedures and work instructions

• Familiar with Subsea Horizontal XMT systems ,Installation Work over Control System ( IWOCS) , Subsea Control Modules (SCM) and Completion Landing Strings(CLS)

• Experienced with Modu Operations and Capital Drilling Equipment

• Familiar with Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) and Tooling Interfaces

• Current Offshore Medical & Survival Certificates

• IWCF Well Control Certification

• Aptitude to innovate and be open to new ideas, networking and global technical knowledge sharing.

• Knowledge of Subsea construction activities, including: Manifold, Flowline Termination Assy (FTA) jumper installation and survey techniques.

• Experienced in leading/participating HAZID/HAZOP sessions

• Facility Audit experience
