Position: Technical Services Manager
Reports to: Director of Operations
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As an active member of the Executive Committee, the Technical Services Manager will oversee the day to day operation of the Technical Division.
• Work closely with the ownership group to ensure all equipment is properly installed and running smoothly
• Manage the Hotel’s Energy Management Systems
• Work closely with the Executive Housekeeper to find efficiencies between maintenance and housekeeping to exceed guest and employee expectations
• Lead and support a diverse team in the operation and maintenance of the Hotel
• Guide an extensive Preventative Maintenance Program for guestrooms, public areas and safety systems to facilitate a building that is remains in “pristine” condition
• Liaise with the Rooms Division and Food & Beverage and other related departments to coordinate guest services and resolve emerging issues promptly
• Manage and re-evaluate the need for service contracts and look for efficiencies in the management of such processes
• Critique, summarize, and forecast monthly departmental financial performance.
• Prepare annual departmental operating and capital budgets
• Ensure the effective utilization and productivity of all employees including staff planning, recruiting and training and development
• Actively participate in Fairmont Baku’s Environmental Committee and implement environmental initiatives across the hotel to support a sustainable environment
• Be a contributing member of the Emergency Response Team and liaison with the local Fire Department
• Active member of Fairmont Baku’s Health & Safety Committee
• Develop, monitor and evaluate departmental health and safety and emergency response procedure training programs
• Foster an environment of open communication, teamwork and recognition by setting a strong example and by “doing whatever it takes” to get the job done
• Participate in Strategic Planning sessions with emphasis on capital project planning, coordination, and execution
• Be Health & Safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining a safe work environment
• Comply with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts policies, procedures and code of ethics
• Uphold the highest standard of internal and external customer service at all times
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 3 years experience as a Chief Engineer, preferably in a hotel environment in Azerbaijan or other locations in Eastern Europe
• Experience in a pre-opening environment
• Bilingual – English and Russian/Turkish is an asset
• Engineering designation or related hotel systems designation an asset
• Well versed in local regulations, such as building codes, fire, and health and safety
• Proven leadership skills in assisting employees to consistently achieve personal and departmental goals
• Must be proactive with strong problem solving abilities to ensure the highest level of productivity at all times
• Creative and willing to take risks
• Proven success in energy management
• Results oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure
• Self-confident and able to prioritize and make effective decisions meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to build strong relationships, interact and influence others at all levels of the organization
