Paint Superintendent

Baku Shipyard LLC is looking for Paint Superintendent. Salary is negotiable and depends on candidate’s experience.

Key responsibilities

 To plan, lead and supervise production painting/blasting team to ensure on‐time delivery;
 To discuss paint condition and suggest correct ways of treatment to the owner;
 To read technical specifications of various paints and areas of application;
 Inspects work in progress to assure compliance with applicable codes, specifications methods and procedures. Inspects completed work to ensure that applicable standards have been met;
 Collaborate with Engineering, Commercial, Procurement Departments in the development of painting related specifications;
 To liaise and coordinate with internal and external parties (vendors, owners and surveyors) pertaining to project painting/blasting requirements;
 To enforce safety and discipline of all subordinates;
 Stay abreast of technologies and developments in the structural steel painting industry. Evaluate these technologies for possible use in shipbuilding and ship repair industry;
 Prepare and maintain documentation related to maintenance painting operations including the performance of various coatings and surface preparation methods;
 Track deadlines;
 Analyze and mitigate risks.

Key requirements

 Must have NACE Level II certification (Coating Inspector);
 2+ years experience as Coating/Painting Inspector or minimum 4 years’ painting/blasting experience in relevant fields or industry;
 Familiar with types of surface preparation and painting techniques / standards;
 Ability to maintain appropriate quality control;
 Ability to read and understand industry standard technical documents, read and understand technical drawings and specifications;
 Effectively using planning skills with attention to detail and follow through;
 Ability to plan, organize, schedule, direct and supervise subordinate personnel and department activities;
 Able to converse/write in both English and Azeri;
 Ability to use a personal computer.
