JOB TITLE:             Systems Engineer

LOCATION:                         AZERBAIJAN

JOB TYPE:             28/28 or 14/14

KCA DEUTAG is one of the largest international drilling operation contractors in the Caspian region, having  a history of over 125 years of drilling and engineering activities across the globe, and undertakes projects in some of the most harsh and demanding environments in the world.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (but not be limited to):

Responds to enquiries and request for assistance with the Group’s telecommunications, computer systems or PC’s.Provides assistance in identifying problems, trouble shooting and providing advice and assistance to users.Ensure that systems are kept up to date.Ensure that systems are kept up to date.Ensure that systems are kept up to date.Operate & maintain main power generation equipment.Operate & maintain emergency generator.Operate & maintain ASDS systems. Operate & maintain switchboards, transformers & circuit breakers.Operate & maintain AC & DC motors and starters.Maintain & calibrate drilling instrumentation systems.Maintain mud system equipment.Maintain hoisting/rotating equipment.Maintain BOP instrumentation and control equipment.Portable tools & portable appliance testing.Electrical & isolation procedures, provide support to platform responsible authority.Maintain Hazardous area equipment and carry out regular inspection of same to maintain integrity.Maintain Battery systems & uninterruptible power supplies.HV/LV systems .Ensure that all electrical equipment is maintained and repaired promptly.  To investigate defects and submit reports as required.Maintain a preventative maintenance programme in accordance with Group repair and preventative maintenance procedures as directed by immediate supervisor.Ensure that all Third Party personnel including Service Engineers comply with Group and Installation Safety Procedures.) Liaise with client electrical supervisors on any matters relating to the safe electrical operation of the installation.Monitor any electrical equipment supplied by other contractors or sub-contractors to ensure that it is suitable for uses within the areas desired.Ensure that all equipment under their control complies with statutory requirements and is maintained at all times in a safe condition or is otherwise completely withdrawn from service. Plan maintenance and repairs so as to minimise the affect on the drilling operation and to carry out the maintenance tasks specified by the computerised maintenance system. Report any misuse of equipment to the Rig Superintendent. Report on parts, tools and supplies needed to maintain the equipment for which they are responsible.Safeguard the rig tools and instruments in their care. Recommend and when required embody modifications to equipment or systems to enhance safety, improve rig performance or comply with statutory notices. Carry out tasks as part of a multi-discipline maintenance team as operational requirements dictate. Main focal point for local IT operations relating to offshore applications which includes control of security/virus configurations of  VPN/VLAN/WAN networks. Maintain Virus software update and manage emergency situations to avoid cyber threats. Regularly update firmare and software versions on plc and pc based computerised systems.
 
Educational and Experience Requirements

Experience in the installation, maintenance and commissioning of drilling equipment. Comprehensive knowledge of industry recognised manufacturers equipment and control system networks. Repair and calibration of electronic equipment
Industry recognised apprenticeship or training scheme; Comprehensive knowledge and experience of operation and maintenance of automated  5th Generation Cyber rigs; In depth knowledge of European and American Classification standards and Regulations; theory and practice of planned maintenance systems; supply chain economics and management; Western safety standards and systems;KCAD processes/procedures and World Wide standards.
Safety ensurance; financial; business development; departmental development; systems and processes; people and quality management; Electric Shock first aid procedures     

Other Special Requirements  

Excellent fault finding abilities; understanding of complex control systems which integrate multiple manufacturer drilling equipment; hazardous area equipment, PLC programming skills, intrinsically safe equipment knowledge
