Position: Career Advisor, Career Management Center

POSITION SUMMARY

Career Advisor at Career Management Centre (CMC) delivers programs and services designed to assist ADA University students in the area of career preparation and leadership development skills. The Career Advisor works collaboratively with students, faculty and corporations to integrate services and meet the needs of ADA University students in their career preparation process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide professional assistance and/or consultation to any student who requests help in planning or implementing his/her career direction;
• Provide professional referral services for any student requiring extended adjustment and support;
• Run professional formal assessments to help students identify their areas of interest, potential and competences;
• Assist in the development and delivery of career education and outreach programs;
• Assist with the liaison and consultative relations with faculty, staff, administration and student organizations;
• Teach formal courses, seminars and workshops in career development;
• Maintain all counseling records as appropriate for performance of counseling functions;
• Occasionally represent CMC at campus/community functions such as Career Week and other events and programs;
• Support in establishment of interview opportunities and job opportunities for current students and alumni through campus visits from potential employers and job fairs;
• Integrate and coordinate wide-ranging career and experiential learning programs and services, including career advising and development, service learning, internships, volunteerism and work-study programs;
• Assist as required, with any evaluative procedures to be used to measure the effectiveness of CMC;
• Collaborate with faculty and staff and support the Associate Director to identify current and future needs of students of different majors, providing direction, support, and information on career development issues;
• Meet with individual students to provide career advising and conduct mock interviews as requested, also market these services to students;
• Advise on vision, direction, implementation strategies and assessment plans for career development and services;
• Support in utilization and development of CMC CAREERlink, Career information resources.

REQUIREMENTS

• Master’s degree in the related fields of HR, Counseling or Psychology, Social Sciences will be an asset;
• At least 2-3 years experience in career advising and services, HR & Development, corporate recruitment or recruitment consultancy. Prior experience providing career counseling or advising for undergraduate/graduate students in a university setting is strongly preferred; 
• Ability to work effectively with students, alumni, faculty and employers;
• Ability to work with individuals and groups. Must be proficient with technology (MS Office Suite) and interested in identifying and adopting technology to reach and connect with our target audience. Open and friendly personable attitude;
• Strong customer service orientation; creativity, ability to assume responsibility, take initiative and motivate others;
• Proven ability to design and present programs/workshops;
• Well developed organizational skills;
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills; strong verbal and written communications skills;
• Knowledge of recruiting, career services, career development and student development is a must;
• Proficiency in Azeri and English languages is a must.
