Well Intervention Projects Team Leader

About BP Our business is the exploration, production, refining, trading and distribution of energy. This is what we do, and we do it on a truly global scale. With a workforce of 80,000 employees, BP operates with business activities and customers in more than 80 countries across six continents. Every day, we serve millions of customers around the world. We are continually looking for talented, committed and ambitious people to help us shape the face of energy for the future.

BP's Upstream segment focuses on finding reserves of oil and gas, developing the means to extract and process it and then consistently producing and transporting it to market. This involves using cutting edge technology to find the energy reserves, the ability to drill thousands of meters under the ground, designing, building and operating some of the world's largest most complex production onshore / offshore facilities and finally being able to transport these fluids, in order to provide energy to the world.

Through Technology we have designed industry leading solutions to drive business delivery and are continuously extending the limits of what we can do. We attract, inspire and retain a diverse talent pool with world class development, deployment and connectivity. Common processes and practices define the way we work, where we strive to make every well better than the previous one.

Role synopsis

Well Intervention Projects is part of the Well Interventions Team; Wells Function (which includes Drilling, Completions, Well Interventions & Well Integrity).

In Azerbaijan, the Team Leader for Well Intervention Projects is a Senior Level Leader position and reports directly to the Manager of Well Interventions. The main role of the Projects Team Leader is to identify, evaluate and implement the right long-term intervention projects. Teamwork with Engineering, Operations and Integrity is required for alignment of priorities.

The Projects Team Leader has a minimum of five (5) direct reports and is accountable for securing the right staff with the right competencies. Regarding specific projects, the Team Leader is responsible for New-to-the-Region technologies that are consistent with the longer term depletion plan. Projects must progress consistent with BP Common Processes. An example is Concentric Coiled Tubing for future well intervention jobs.

Appropriate use of BP Common Processes (Base Management, Opportunity Progression, Beyond-the-Best) helps with cross-functional involvement. The Team Leader is responsible to network across functions to secure support for the full life cycle of a project. Teamwork is required with Resource Base Management, Offshore Operations, Supply Chain and the larger Wells Team (drilling & completions). Effective team working keeps fit-for-purpose projects on track. Both fields (Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli and Shah Deniz) require longer term solutions. Example are the simultaneous operations project and fit-for-purpose well intervention vessel.

The Project Team Leader is long-term focused with occasional involvement in day-to-day operational activities. The Team Leader is also accountable to develop the next generation of Azerbaijan National Engineers. The role requires leadership skill, project management skill and draws upon personal knowledge & experience with wells (both surface & downhole).
