The Global Projects Organisation (GPO) is accountable for the line delivery of Upstream's global portfolio of over 45 major projects. GPO has 4 key roles: .
- Integration, with overall accountability for FM delivery from the beginning of project appraisal to first production, .
- Optimisation, with a focus on selecting the right development concepts, leveraging standardization, segment scale and learning, .
- Execution, continuously improving efficiency with rigorous performance management, .
- Advice, to inform segment portfolio decisions.

Significant value is created in the front end of projects where we optimize the development concept with multi-disciplinary input, and a standardized model will ensure that we performance manage the developments to ensure that we continuously improve. .

The goal of the GPO is to deliver sustainable efficiency improvement, close the learning loop with Operations, and to deliver functional performance into GPO Projects.
Role synopsis Support Lead Project Engineer as a Project Construction Engineer to deliver safe and quality build Drilling Rig Facilities

Key accountabilities

• Establishes and maintains a SAFE working environment within the sphere of influence, ensuring erection contractor compliance with BP HSE goals and objectives
• Promotes commitment to Health, Safety and Environment as an integral component of sound construction and commissioning execution
• Monitors site operations constantly to detect unsafe acts/practices. Conducts formal and informal hazard appraisals
• Ensure the Implementation of all engineering procedures, work priorities and changes to the scope
• Ensure all activities are achieved within schedule and compliant with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements
• Monitor construction and commissioning related activities performed by the Contractor
• Review and monitor Contractors construction and commissioning progress within agreed schedule
• Ensure Contractors compliance with all HSE standards via regular safety inspections and audits
• Actively participate in the development of Azerbaijani national staff
• Prepare ad hoc reports as required by Drilling Delivery Manager
• Assess the execution of additional works under the contract and confirm integration into S.O.W.
• Act as focal point for all Contractors Project Engineering related activities
• Pass on lessons learned to project team and Contractor to facilitate successful schedule completion
• Act as Project point of contact on package logistics
• Ensures that all QA/QC issues relative to the works and packages are actioned
• Document review and monitor all SEQ and S.I ensuring prompt answers to contractor and ensure close out of all appropriate documentation as per BP Procedures
• Cover for project engineer whilst on leave

Essential Education

• An Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications/experience

Essential experience and job requirements

• Minimum of 5 years experience of similar roles in oil and gas industry
• Ability to read and understand engineering reports, drawings and project schedules
• An experienced interface / discipline engineer who demonstrates good communication and team ethos skills, and have significant experience of working within the Drilling teams in Oil and Gas industry

Other essential skills and knowledge

• Ability to produce written reports
