Role synopsis  Azerbaijan Georgia Turkey (AGT) Region currently operates six production platforms in two separate contract areas in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.

HSE&ER Advisors are deployed on each platform and are responsible for providing day-to-day support to all platform personnel on health, safety, environmental and emergency response aspects of the platform’s activities, which includes topsides and drilling to ensure safe, complaint and environmental acceptable operations and continuous improvement in HSE performance.

Site HSE&ER Advisors are offshore based roles reporting directly to respective Site HSE&ER Advisors Team Leader who reports to the Area Health & Safety Team Leader. In addition, Site HSE&ER Advisors will have dotted line to Wells Health & Safety Team Leader. Area and Wells H&S Team Leaders are parts of the Safety&Operational Risk (S&OR) Health & Safety Organization for AGT Region Operations & Wells.

Key accountabilities

Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

• Acting as an S&OR representative on offshore installation;
• Acting as a focal point for Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) and Well Site Leader (WSL) on all platform HSE&ER issues and associated rescue plans;
• Advising, supporting and providing assurance to the OIM and WSL and other platform personnel in meeting BP HSE Policies, Standards, Practices and Guidelines and legal requirements;
• Ensuring compliance with the platform Safety Management System and applicable legal requirements for the installation;
• Facilitating the development of, participating in, and conducting periodic reviews of Risk Assessments to ensure that all HSE hazards are identified and adequately addressed;
• Verifying that people are appropriately trained and competent to conduct their work safely in accordance with approved procedures, e.g. personnel involved in lifting.
• Ensuring the safe handling and storage of hazardous substances;
• In conjunction with the Area Emergency Response Specialist-Coach ensuring an effective, efficient and trained platform emergency response organization is in place, co-ordinate exercises and perform other assigned duties in accordance with the Emergency Responce Procedure (ERP);
• Monitoring maintenance standards, integrity and certification for fire fighting, life saving and other safety equipment;
• Act as Level 1 Gas Tester (Ox, Tox, Exp)
• Act as Platform Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS);
• Provide daily assurance that Audits and Inspections take place as per Platform Audit Matrix
• Provide assurance that all Safe Systems of Work procedures are followed (e.g. Lifting Operations, Working at Heights, Energy Isolation, Authorisation, etc.).
• Conduct vessel inspections prior to entry;
• Conducting HSE inspections and audits (covering e.g., Lifting Operations, Working At Heights, Confined Space, Process Safety, etc.) verify that work sites are safe and complaint and that current work practices are in line with the approved procedures;
• Facilitating AGT HSE audits on the platform to ensure compliance with legal and other requirements;
• Assuring quality of HSE induction on the platform;
• Acting as an Emergency Response Team Leader / Forward Controller;
• Facilitating and running lessons learned process on the platform;
• Maintaining effective control of all HSE&ER procedures and records;
• As directed by team leader, contribute to the maintenance and development of AGT Safety Management System documents by reviewing to ensure they are fit-for-purpose and provide adequate safeguards;
• As directed by the team leader, maintaining effective communications with all relevant onshore teams regarding HSE planning, actions, monitoring and reporting of HSE performance/incidents;
• Leading or participating in Incident Investigations to determine Immediate and Systems Causes and developing Corrective Actions;
• Co-ordinating the response to lessons learned identified from incident investigation reports with other platform personnel;
• Facilitating and leading safety meetings, health, safety and environmental campaigns;
• Co-ordinating environmental monitoring and reporting to ensure compliance with approved procedures;
• Maintaining and up-to-date knowledge of BP HSE procedures and ensuring that any changes are communicated as appropriate to platform based personnel;
• Other duties assigned by the team leader.

Essential Education

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Health, Safety and/or Environmental studies, Engineering or Sciences

Essential experience and job requirements

A minimum of 2 years of HSE experience.

Other essential skills and knowledge

-Demonstrated effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish a good rapport with field personnel.
-Mid-level to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools.
-Experience in operations and projects.
-Experience in conducting HSE training

Desirable criteria & qualifications

- A Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene or a related field, or 5 years of relevant work experience supporting oil and gas exploration/production.
- A Safety Professional certification.
