Job Title: Workshop Supervisor

Location: As required by PDL (onshore/ offshore/ workshop locations)
Responsible To: Operations Managers
Direct Reports: Mechanics, Fitters, Labourers, 3rd parties

Purpose of Job:

• The role of Workshop Supervisor is a key position within the organization, and its aim is to:
• Inspect, Analyze and diagnose the problems of the machines and equipment which are to be repaired in the workshop. Record the job details and prepare job cards, list of consumables, parts, and resources required to effect the repair or overhaul
• Coach and mentor national employees in industry best practices and efficient work methods
• Ensure all works are carried out correctly, economically and to the relevant technical and quality standards.
• Promote safety in the workplace and demonstrate effective safety leadership at all times

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSBILITY:

- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, lead by example and foster a positive safety culture within the workshop. Meet agreed safety performance targets. Participate in safety inspections, and carry out regular safety meetings and tool box talks.
- Regularly liaise and monitor progress of jobs and workshop personnel as required to ensure correct implementation of repair work according to regulations and standards
- Communicate with customers and other interested parties on matters pertaining to the facility capabilities and promoting awareness of customer requirements throughout the company.
- Responsible for opening of jobs, recording the details of each job, and advising the Operations Manager of the condition of the job, as well as the parts and labour required to complete the repairs
- Preparation of regular reports to the Workshops Manager related to the department, manpower, materials, equipment & resource control, provide status reports on the various ongoing works in the workshop facility or site.
- Ensuring all work is produced and delivered through processes which are capable, clearly specified and consistently controlled in conjunction with Quality Procedures, external standards and all OEM or customer specifications
- Effectively managing the workshop resources and repair jobs to ensure client requirements and deadlines are met.
- Oversee testing activities and trouble shooting, fault finding to identify problems
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with QA/QC procedures and agreed quality levels and ensure that all test reports are completed properly.
- Promote a strong “team” environment and a culture of continuous improvement throughout the department.
- Conduct ongoing reviews of the effectiveness of the workshop processes and prepare recommendations regarding areas of improvement.

Experience required

- 10-15Years experience in the repair/overhaul of all types of rotating and or static equipment specifically with experience on carrying out repairs/ overhauls and testing of rotating machines such as pumps, compressors and heat exchangers and coolers. The candidate should be able to extract specifications/ certification data from the original equipment manufacturers and inspect, diagnose, repair, overhaul and test equipment to the original specifications and technical standards.
- Good computer skills & the ability to prepare job cards is essential, experience with preparing estimations of materials, labour is desirable.
- The candidate should have a minimum 5 years experience as a Workshop Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

- Technical qualification. Industry experience, OEM trainings

Desirable

- HNC or Degree Level Qualification

EXPERIENCE

- Minimum of 10 years repair, maintenance, or commissioning experience in the Oil and Gas industry on rotating equipment and static equipment.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Team leader or supervisor in an operational role in service sector of the Oil and Gas industry
