Role synopsis

A number of Corrosion Engineer positions are available for Azerbaijani citizens with engineering experience in this discipline. Corrosion Engineers are responsible for providing a safe, efficient and cost effective materials and logistics co-ordination service to drilling and production installations across the region Roles can include materials selection, corrosion management and mitigation, integrity management and monitoring/condition assessment.
This can involve providing key engineering support to the business on materials and corrosion engineering, providing strategic input to technology planning and implementing BP-wide continuous improvement projects.

Key accountabilities

-Ensure best practice in corrosion management and material selection is utilised/transferred throughout BP
-Be involved in the development of Corrosion Management Strategies and Risk based assessment methodologies
-Provide root cause analysis, risk assessment and management of change guidance where materials or corrosion issues are relevant
-Contribute to BP’s Engineering Technical Practices development/compliance/deviation
-Participate in engineering design reviews, safety reviews
-Demonstrate leadership and compliance with HSSE expectations
-Participate in the Material, Corrosion and Welding (MCW) Community of Practice (CoP) meetings with a view of providing continuous improvements initiatives and share lessons learned

Essential Education

-Degree in corrosion, material or chemical engineering


Essential experience and job requirements

-Minimum 4 year experience in corrosion management and material engineering

 
Other essential skills and knowledge

-Chartered/Professional Engineer preferred
-Broad range of technical skills associated with materials selection and corrosion engineering
-Proven ability to build networks both internal and external to the organization
Desirable criteria & qualifications

-Demonstrated ability of effective team building with diverse groups of personnel, teams and disciplines
-High level of oral and written communications skills
-Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritizing abilities
-Motivated self-starter, an excellent communicator and able to work with all levels of management, engineers and field operations staff;
-Strong team player with the ability to stand alone in challenging situations
