Trainee Mechanic

Job Summary

Mechanics are responsible for the maintenance and deployment of seismic in-sea equipment and the maintenance of back deck systems. Their role includes:

• Maintaining high pressure air systems
• Maintaining hydraulic control systems
• Maintaining the high-pressure seismic energy source
• Fault-finding of the seismic source wiring (low power electrical)
• Back deck vessel operations including deployment and recovery of in-sea equipment
• Occasional small boat operations for in-sea maintenance of seismic streamer as required
• Inventory control
• Use of computer based planned maintenance system

Caspian Geo LLC will provide comprehensive training and support so you can take on this interesting role.

Requirements

Qualifications

Two-year college education in Mechanical Engineering including:

• Welding
• Automotive
• Hydraulics
• General Engineering
• Motor maintenance
• Basic electrical knowledge

Additional requirements

• Good spoken and written English
• Analytical
• Flexibility
• Team player
• Prepared to work offshore on a seismic survey vessel
• Working shifts of 12 hours per day, typically on trips of up to 6 weeks in duration with 6 weeks home
• Prepared to work on the back deck of a vessel, in often harsh environments
• Prepared to take part in small boat operations fixing in-sea equipment

The following additional training will be provided prior to joining the seismic vessel
Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training (STCW & OPITO approved) – including Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET), Sea Survival
Medical Fitness Certificate for Offshore

 

Trainee Observer

Job Summary

Observers are responsible for the recording and monitoring of seismic data. Their role includes:

• Deployment and recovery of the seismic streamers and in-sea equipment
• Online quality control of seismic data acquisition
• Maintaining the seismic streamers and in-sea equipment
• Maintaining integrated systems
• Working in multicultural environment

Requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master Degree in technical subjects including:

• Electronics
• Electrical Engineering
• Computing
• A Geoscience

Additional Requirements

• Good spoken and written English
• Analytical
• Flexibility
• Team player
• Prepared to work offshore on a seismic survey vessel
• Working shifts of up to 12 hours per day, typically on trips of up to 6 weeks in duration
• Prepared to work on the back deck of a vessel, in often harsh environments

Trainee Navigator

Navigators are responsible for the positioning of the vessel and in-sea equipment and ensuring our surveys are acquired in the most efficient way. Their role includes:

• Controlling survey acquisition
• Processing navigation data
• Quality control of seismic navigation data
• Maintaining DGPS navigation equipment
• Maintaining acoustic positioning systems
• Maintaining integrated systems

• Computing
