Exams Invigilator

The British Council is looking for experienced and self-motivated people to cover invigilator needs for Exams Team. The successful candidates will be included into the British Council Invigilators Database and will promote the UK and the British Council as a valued partner and source of expertise, and deliver customer service to British Council customers.

It should be noted that invigilator will work at the British Council upon request approximately 25-30 hours per month.  Working schedule is not fixed and will depend on the availability of exams and invigilators. Invigilators are recruited as an hourly paid staff and payment is 5 AZN per hour.

Essential requirements

The candidate must:

-Have the right to live and work in Azerbaijan
-B2 level English according to CEFR level (Common European Framework of Languages)
-possess excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Azerbaijani is a must.
-be over age 18
available during the 1st (09:00-14:00) or 2nd (14:00-18:00) half of the day during the week and on the weekends
-attend full day training session which will be held sometime before the first exam session; periodically attend half-day refreshing trainings when required;
-possess good interpersonal and communication skills
-possess the ability and strong motivation to work with international organizations in cultural relations
-possess ability to learn in a busy office: ability to work under pressure, deal with difficult customers and demonstrate personal initiative.
-ability to deal directly with peers and customers in a pleasant manner but be firm where necessary; act promptly to ensure customer problems are resolved
-be flexible, pro-active and enthusiastic team player with a persistent drive to deliver results.
-possess the following essential competencies and skills:


Key duties include the following:

-Set up the exam room and check equipment (as directed by exam supervisor)
-Welcome candidates, check their ID and direct candidates to their seats
-Distribute and collect exam papers and other materials as directed by the supervisor
-Actively monitor candidates during the exams
-Assist with post-test duties as required by supervisor

Special requirements:

-Availability during the week (2-3 days at least) and the weekend. Willingness to work outside of normal working hours (09:00 – 18:00 Mon-Fri) as required.
-Exams start at 07:00 in the morning on Saturdays.

Selected candidates will be required to do the following:

-To register at Tax Department and Social Fund upon on selection and process all tax liabilities.
-To provide Criminal Record Check from ASAN Service;
-To provide 3 reference forms and 3 ID documents (ID card, passport, student card or any other photographic document)
-To open an bank account at local bank
