Senior Lawyer / Legal Manager – Oil & Gas Practice
Position Summary
EKVITA is a consulting company focusing on legal, tax and general business advisory services. The company works with Fortune 500 clients, international financial institutions (IFIs), development organisations as well as the government of Azerbaijan.
We are currently hiring a senior lawyer / legal manager who will join our Energy & Infrastructure Practice Group and be involved in the management of our growing portfolio of projects in this area. Depending on the seniority of the applicants, the position will be termed as senior lawyer or legal manager.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct legal analyses, including relevant procedures and prevailing practice in respective practice area
Identify legal issues and propose appropriate practical solutions
Review client inquiries for adherence to legal policies and procedures
Draft, review, negotiate and finalize legal documents on various matters or practice areas
Prepare comprehensive memorandums on matters related to practice area
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Master’s degree (LL.M) is a must. Ideal candidate would have LL.M from a foreign university
Preferably 3-5 years of law firm experience or alternatively 5 years of in-house (corporate) experience in an energy company
Knowledge and practice of working with Production Sharing Agreements (PSA)
Communication Skills

Excellent demonstrated analytical skills; able to spot legal issues and risks in a given transaction

Ability to do comprehensive legal research independently or with minimal supervision

Identifying impediments to implementation of current activities and continuously seek ways to improve

High ethical and professional standards
Ability to meet tight deadlines and to work hard when necessary
Fluency in Azerbaijani and English (both written and spoken); Russian would be asset

Excellent demonstrated analytical skills
Ability and maturity to make independent judgement
